Week in the Lakes

i am going with SWMBO and the ankle biters and tintent to Lake Coniston next week.
i am looking for a few green lanes to try and get some use out of the disco so we can see some great views. any suggestions would be most welcome.

thanks

If you get over Keswick/Penrith way, the Old Coach Road from Threlkeld to Matterdale is a nice road, virtually runs parallel with the A66, very secluded in the middle and a nice easy track Thumbs Up

I know it's not a greenlane, but West of Ambleside are Wrynose Pass & Hardnott Pass. Tight, steep, great views and plenty of places to stop and stretch your legs Thumbs Up
Also, just as a heads up.

I posted on here a while back after an outing with Kankku. Do a search for Kankku and you will find info on there with OS reference numbers. Some of the lanes where a bit extreme I seem to remember but the one by "Tarn Howes" was suitable for a D3. The Old Coach Road is is a good lane though.

Cheers

Andy

Go to LDNP website - off road driving - and download all the rights of way c/w map refs.
They grade routes according to the likely hood of other users, houses, 1 way etc and are very helpfull.
I spent a few days driving about 30 routes in July.Beware many of the lanes have been badly erroded due to flooding and you will have some 2 wheel balancing monents, others like the Coach Road don't need any off road ability. Rusland Pool was deeper than bonnet depth going from the house end and would be diffucult trying to exit this way - the other end is easy. Some routes are currently affected by encroaching bramble, bushes and branches, a set of lopers were handy. But I didn't have to back out or miss any out, unless they had a TRO -I think they was 3 or 4 marked.

Park Coppice is where we went earlier this year, nice walk onto Coniston via the other campsite besides the lake. Bluebird cafe and the Black Bull Inn are recommended Thumbs Up

and yeah you're right... it rained continuously for three days Sheep
