Staffordshire / Cannock area green laning

Hi all,

Just picked up a D3 earlier this week.

Whilst pulling over on a country lane to let a car pass I pulled away and the car drove over some grass. My wife had a little panic where she thought we'd fall into some hole and get stuck. My wife must have forgotten we were in a LR and thought we were in a normal car.

I tried to explain that these cars can drive pretty much all over the world in standard form but she was having none of it.

Is there anywhere we can go green laning with or without other members to A have fun and B show us what these cars can do?

Thanks all.[/code]

There are often guided driving days across the chase led by the Rangers, may be worth getting in touch with them.

I think they are advertised in LEO magazine too Thumbs Up

If you do a search in Google for Cannock Chase 4 x 4 it will bring up the Forrestry commission lead tour information and also some interesting videos on youtube. I spoke to the ranger who leads them. They are generally tailered to the groups ambitions as a whole so nothing to adventurous if you don't want and it is in a non damaging environment (for the vehicle) i.e. not to many rocks and brash to damage the paintwork of your pride and joy. For info the next one is on 03 /11/12 as detailled on their website. The however do not operate if there is not enough interest, needs at least 5 or 6 vehicles to make it happen. If anyone is interested in the november trip register withe the forrestry commission as i intend to go and it wont happen if not enough interest. It is a great opportunity to see more of the Chase in a relatively short time compared to walking etc.

I did a Wildlife Safari with the Forestry in Cannock in my old Defender - was a great morning out and good value - some pics are here

I won't be able to make the one in November, but would go again when I get the time!
