oil leak

At the mot in june there was an "advisory" - oil leak

There is very little oil but it looks like engine oil. Most of it is accumulating around the front divers side of the sump guard. The drive shaft oil seals are intact - no evidence of leakage here.

I will get the sump guard off this weekend - monsoon permitting

Anyone got any pointers where it could be coming from eg porous sump

regards

John

could be from the "brake vacuum pump" - i think thats what its called. the seal can leak and oil drops down the side of the bell housing and the starter motor onto the back of sump guard (RHS side of engine).

The pump is sealed with a small rubber seal that doesnt seem to seal that well apparently - there was a TSB for this way back in 2006/2007

Or could be from the turbo pipes (left hand side of engine)

i had a small leak from turbo pipes and when I got the engine out yesterday I was able to tighten the clip up by 3 turns - but near on impossible to get to without body etc off I would think.
