TDV6 Engine Lifting Bracket
Does anyone know the best way to lift the TDV6 from the chassis - the workshop manual says get the "special tool", but as I only need to use it once, and need to do it before Sunday !!, I need to adopt a slighly more DIY approach.
has anyone done it using anything other that the LR tool ?
Thanks Duncan

I assume they just thread into the exisiting black brackets on the front right and rear left of the engine (as you look at engine from front) ?Duncan

Yup, thats the one, and the one at the rear too. I used 2x 40 or 50mm bolts on each bracket, and lift it that wayMy D3 Build Thread

all done
LR Special Part Number DD01
2 angle brackets (to act as a big washer)
2 M8 bolts
some old chain
just a point to note though. when I lifted the engine up the left hand side got stuck a little and the engine mounting bracket broke
If I had the engine out and was refitting a replacement I think I would take the opportunity to fit new mounting brackets just to be on the safe side....Duncan

Have done more than a few engine replacements, and never had one break My D3 Build Thread

seemed odd - maybe it was weakend when the gearbox was taken out or maybe it was already fractured -
seem sensible to change them when the engine is out thoughDuncan
