Hawkeye Diagnostic tool.. Any Good?

So far this seems favourite to me, seems to do all I need (service reset and fault code read/clear and a bit of playing)

I dont want to reflash any modules, or change ccf's ( Censored that)

But I await (especially BBS) feelback on the pro's and cons.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

It does not ooze quality compared to BBS products and it does not enjoy the level of support that the BBS products enjoy. The Hawkeye feels pretty primitive and cheap compared to a FM. I have desired a MSV2 for a couple of years but the price makes your eyes water, even with the knowledge that you can recover most of the investment on the 2nd hand market.

So having tried the BBS products I would not challenge anyone who buys one.

But after much thought I bought a Hawkeye V5.0 and have not regretted it. For the price it has all the features and service modes I need. I have also used it on a number of D3s, including a V8 in recent weeks. You make new friends with a product that is not locked to the VIN.

Thumbs Up

Oh and remember to buy the D3 specific package that includes the extra dongle as it's pricey on its own.

I'm taking quite a liking to the IIDTool. Slight inconvenience controlling it (a bit fiddly using the cruise control buttons and the dash LCD), but the price is extremely reasonable so it makes it very worth it.

I use my IIDTOOL more than the Msv2, just because it's so convenient plug in and use cruise control buttons, very handy to adjust susp height for highway or offroad, build mode turns suspp ecu off good for long periods of parking or dealing with failing compressor. Live value espesially ergs valves is good, missing on MSv2.
A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

ok couple of questions as i am in the market for some diagnostics soon. i am inclined to go for the bbs stuff as i have had a nanocom from the early days with good support, however i like the look of the hawkeye kit as well.

IId tool, operates from cruise control buttons but i dont have cruise control ???

hawkeye, i like the fact it does any d3 ,as like my nanocom will work on other cars and maybe claw back some cash from others using it, but does it do the handbrake for servicing? and does it put out the service indicators? one report i read said it didn't?

basic faultmate, does it do the handbrake for servicing? and does it reset service indicators? one post i read on here said it doesnt do the handbrake you need the £700 version and to reset the service indicators you need an additional £50 module?

i dont want to reprogram the whole motor but i do want to be able to fully service my own car.

some more info on the pros and cons of each would be great.

Sorry Chap, i have been out of the country for a long weekend.

There are even some cases where i have actually recommended the Hawkeye to some, based upon it being the best solution to their needs.

It does after all, do a lot of the basics and if that is all you need want and expect then that is fine by me.

I will happily compete with anyone on a like for like basis on any level and fair playing field.

And sadly that is where the Hawkeye absolutely disgraces itself, which i think is a real shame.

If anyone buying BBS equipment finds anything hidden, not as described or are in any other way unhappy with their investment or otherwise, as the owner of BBS here i am.

Sadly the Hawkeye is not quite so honest.

It was after all not them that pointed out.

They do not also point out that you also need to buy another equally pricy lead and power supply if you want to upgrade your Hawkeye's software.

It is always nice to be able to help others out with MV equipment, but i can tell you that the novelty of that soon turns into being a real pain in the A$$
