If the airbags have gone off in the D3 will the airbag ecu be knackered, or can it be re used ?
thanks Duncan

Hello Duncan, did you ever get a reply to your question about reusing an airbag ECU after the bags have gone off???? Another matter, do you have any of the plastic air deflector parts fitted around the radiator, front bumper, grill intake area left from your massive parts sale. Thanks, Dave.

Hi Duncan, thanks for the reply, it's as I suspected. Can't use the grill though as I just need a few small parts now to complete my rebuild. Dave.

The airbag module can be reprogrammed as new by Airbagforsale.co.uk based at Leicester do an oogle searce costs about £100, the can also re-load the seat belt retentioners. All errors will have to be removed from the ecu by a Faultmate etc. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the info, I have 2 pre seat belt tensioners from a Rover 75 that have the same end and fit the existing belts buckle and was thinking rightly or wrongly that I could use these. The electric connections look the same, I need to check further. Dave.

Checked the Rover 75 seat belt pretensioners this morning and they are the same part number from what my imformant tells me so they will fit OK. They came with a lot of other stuff I bought from a Rover dealership that went bust a few years ago so a lucky purchase for a change.

If the pre-tentioners have been fired, it's very likely the belts also will have been fired and will need replacing, check the belts run smoothly and are not locked or jerky if they are they will throw a seat belt error and the airbag light will come on.
They will not fire unless someone is sat in the seat with a belt on, ie passenger. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

its been activated ie the side airbags went off in our crash - hence £10
but if you can get it reprogrammed as suggested may be worth something. Duncan
