How long does it take to sink? |
|
Hi,
I've just taken delivery of an 07 D3 and I wondered how long (if at all) it usually takes the suspension to sink the car right down? When i looked at it on the forecourt it was sat right down on its ar e and i was told it was because it hadn't been started for a few days.... (it promptly sat up when started)
Now parked on my drive for about 8 hours it's sank a little already. Is this normal??
BTW if this topic has been done before, sorry but i did have a look through the posts but couldnt see it.... please be gentle, I'm new

Its not normal, and it has a leak somewhere. It may only be a small leak but it will be putting extra strain on the compressor.

car shouldnt drop at all if it is working correctly.
mine had stayed in normal and offroad height for 3 weeks with no drop. it will only drop if you have a leak or the temperature drops considerably between you leaving the car and returning.
sound like you have a leak and the dealer is feeding you Duncan

My 2005 which i've had for over 3 years used to stay up for at least a fortnight but now only stays up a couple days, if it gets any worse i'll look into it. If yours is sinking that fast then it certainly needs looking at as Gareth said. Be persistant if your LR dealer says it's ok like that.

Mine drops overnight....had the compressor changed a few months ago (unrelated issue) and hoped it would fix this too.....it hasn't,so I will be getting out the leak detection spray when I get the time..... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I always thought they sank a small amount when they go into sleep mode. Not as far as access height but slightly lower than normal??

My 05 does the same thing, a couple of days not in use, it sits down like its waiting for better says or something.
I havent done anything about it yet. I even dont know if the compressor has been changed. bought it used.
Common problem I guess.. Im goin in for the big service, cambelt change in 3 weeks.Ill ask them if they can look at it. but last time i asked them they told me to not bother.
