Repainting underside
Going to repaint the underside soon on my LR3 (V8) and was wondering if there's anything I need to NOT spray? I don't paint any shafts at all.
Thanks 17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

Why not use black Waxoil? Far easier, quicker, cheaper and does a better job of suppressing rust.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

My 05 Model is quite rusty underneath.
What I have done is far
1 Wire brushed the most rusty bits.
2 Treated all visible rust with fe-123
3 Injected fe-123 into chassis members to stop active rust.
4 Painted underside with Epoxy Mastic a 2 part chassis paint.
I am now going to spray the underside with Dinitrol 4941
and inject the Chassis with Dinitrol 3125
Acording to Rustbeaters (see link above) Dinitrol products are much better than Waxoyl
Previously I have treated a RR Classic and a Disco1 with Waxoyl - clear in chassis and black on the underside.
Rust eventually got to them both. I find that the worst rust is the unseen type inside body members rusting from the inside out.
When spraying the underside watch out that you don't cover any sensors with wax.
Hope this helps

I am just doing to rear end of my D3 with a wire brush head on angle grinder to get the scabby bits off and a hand wire brush to get hard to reach places. Now I am using hammerrite to paint all areas then I will be waxoyling it all tomorrow.
I have removed the rear bumper to check the welds and general condition of the tow bar and also so when I put RGL spare wheel theft device as the rust back end it all down. over the next month or so I will get the whole underneath done the same ready for if we get snow.
My D2 got the same treatment and it was still in great condition after 6 years.

Mine doesn't have any rust yet (small spot on LF control arm) and main reason for repainting is to make it look new. I use Rustoleum paint on it.
So census is to avoid the sensors?17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca
