I'm using Total 2 stroke JASO FC rated bought in France €6.80 for 2 litres
It seams that as the French use a lot of little 2 stroke engines in machinery the choice is better than over here and cheaper, that's supermarket price there were 3 FC grades available and FB is even cheaper Altox GSM FBH controller thread

There's a lot more of these over there on the continent,
that's why there's more 2 stroke oil also

Bought 3 litres of this stuff at Tesco today and stuffed 500ml into a full tank for the first go or so. I will look to drop the amount to 330ml per tank after this. I'll be tracking the mpg via my iphone app but I still feel like I have bought snake oil.
We shall see how it works out over the next few thousand miles![/img]Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

You may not see or feel any difference, but thats not to say its snake oil. The only definitive way to see what its doing, is to strip down the engine and see how clean it is, just ask Flack.
95% of what it does will never be seen or felt, like lubricating the fuel pumps, injectors etc. At the end of the day, its down to personal choice, but for me, I like the peace of mind knowing its in there keeping the engine clean and the fuel system lubricated

Went to see two (more) failed TDV6 engines, that suffered the collapsed main bearing death.
The one which was run on 2sO for the last 60'000km was squeaky clean inside, including piston tops etc with A COMLETE ABSENCE OF CARBON DEPOSITS AROUND THE RING GROOVES!!!
The second one was totally carboned up. Both engines had in excess of 100'000km on them.
This is what the clean one looked inside. Check the manufacturing marks on the piston.

I have been using 2/ for a few months now.
However during our little jaunt around middle Europe I did not use it for one fill up.
The results were a couple of mpg lower for that and the next fill.
There were some differing roads for those tanks tho' with a run from Berlin to Prague and then out to Regensburg and Salzburg.
It was back to normal for the last two on the run back home from Nuremberg.(Remap, EGRs Blanked,Silicon I/C hose) from BAS, (Torque Convertor, Compressor, FL Wishbones, Alternator) by WD, Belts by Newbury4x4, Megaflush+extra cooler by GRGB, Diff+Transfer oils, ARB Bushes, Fuel filter, Fixed Towbar, Remote FBH.

I've been using 2T in my passat, (250k miles) for a while now, and have def noticed that the engine is quieter, but not noticed a great difference in mpg. I will def be using it in my disco.... When i buy one. What i'm confused about is the 'argument' against synthetic oils? The synth oils are highly developed, and after all, are made to mix with petrol.... Which is mineral isn't it? I can assure you that it will mix fully and completely when put with your diesel. Also, when rape seed oil was cheap, i ran the passat on that, and it gave similar improvements in running ( and did increase economy abit)..... That also mixed perfectly well with diesel.
It's only my gut feeling.... But i would think synth 2T would be fine

After reading this thread some weeks ago I decided to try using the 2 stroke oil although I was skeptical.
In was very happy with the outcome; the engine (TDV6) is smoother on cold startup, certainly runs smoother and quieter and seems to have better acceleration, in fact it has rfenewed the pleasure of driving the D3. I will continue using it.

Hi willstatt
fully synthetic 2sO does not burn ashfree and as such is not suitable for vehicles with DPF. And this is aside from the fact that it is substantially more expensive than normal mineral or semi-synthetic 2sO conforming to JASO-FC.EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI
