Bogus caravan buyers??
I keep my caravan at my mums, last year about now it had been on the drive 2 days when traveller Tom turns up asking if the caravan is for sale,
Today she had a card through her door from John wanting to know if the caravan was for sale now or will be soon,
Just feel a bit twitchy, it's locked bolted and Cris registered ,and insured but that's not the point, I called him and let him know it was not for sale,
Still waiting for the call saying van gone missing.

Dont think they would be knocking the door,showing there face ect or putting cards through , would they just take it

I would be more worried about those who don't knock on the door or leave a number.
Unless you are moving it to a "secure site" you could have the same issues on any driveway. At least if its at a family home and fitted with decent wheel clamps etc you would hope any noise from trying to remove the security would alert the householder.
Yes wheel clamps and hitch locks can be cut off with grinders etc, but it would be much easier for a theif if the van is parked in a secluded compound than it would if under the bedroom window.
Even a simple baby monitor inside the van and house may give an alert if the van is tampered with.

Wheel lock one side, and remove the others and place on axle stands

Thanks for the reply guys, the van has multiple wheel locks on it, Hitch,corner steady, and axle chained to a ground anchor , thats alarmed, the wife says to leave it and stop worrying . So I will do as I am told .

Take out all the cushions if you have somewhere dry to keep them, they cost a few thousand to replace and will put off any potential tea leaf.
Or get it insured new for old and hope to get a nice new 'van out of the cicumstances

get a camera on it from an upstairs window. Y-Cam for example.

Or............ Rent your mothers house out and benefit from the rental income, and get her to live in the caravan on her drive. That way she will be able to keep an eye on her tennant and property. When you need the caravan for holidays, let her stay in your home and become a "house minder"
Better off asking the mother-in-law to sleep in it!

Y-cam through Jabbakam it all depends on the mother in law having a internet connection you can get the video clip or a still on your mobile as it is happening. a very low cost option as Jabakam are doing there own cameras now. If you sign up and just get e-mail alerts it cost you nothing to run.

Mother has no Internet connection, virtually deaf, and back ends gone a bit, I like the cam idea though,
John phoned this morning asking if I had decided to sell, I pointed out to him that I told him yesterday that it was not for sale, he just said he buys and sells caravans and always asks if they are for sale, he had me mixed up with another caravan over the had I decided as my wife said it may be for sale,
So is he an honest traveller just trying to make a living, or a less honest traveller just out to get what he can, having spoken to him this morning I am inclined to th former.
