Hi querty2008,
Is yours a 2.7Lt or a 3.0Lt.
I found that my D4 3.0Lt uses slightly more fuel than my D3 2.7Lt did, however, the 3.0Lt uses less fuel when towing.
My D3 also had a ECU power upgrade, which helped the economy.
The econcomy should improve with more miles on the clock. If you are concerned, take it back to the dealer.

My first tankfull I did 22.4mpg in a mix of driving, so yours should improve. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Mine is showing 30 on the computer but 23 is the real figure!

Well back from towing the tin tent in the wet.Holiday over then F sun comes out. Well the car towed like a jet. Musthave no fuel in tank ,no dipstick
