No risk with "hard-reset", do not wait to do it!
Not plug the MSV2 only after finishing the hard-reset!

Keep me informed...

Santi, You say that you have just got your Extreme?
If this is a single vehicle licence, as mine is, have you you sent BBS your car profile or whatever it is called, to register YOUR car to THAT extreme?
Pete Bell and a lot of the clever and very experienced Faultmate users on this forum have multi vehicle licences and so don't or won't have had this message!

As Pete says send a post to Ronnie on the BBS forum and I'm sure everything will be sorted.

Ian

Hiya Santi

Do not worry, whatever the problem you have is can surely be found and fixed.

You have to apply a bit of logic and clear thinking to the debugging process though.

It's a bit like a chain of links where you have to work through each link one by one to find any break.

The Vehicle explorer software that runs on the PC is connected to the Vehicle server via a Communication link over which it sends commands and gets resultant data back. If you can use the Vehicle explorer to get settings info back from the Vehicle server like its serial number this link is fine.

If you can also read the serial number of the attached VCI 2 then the next link is also fine.

Finally if you run the vehicle scan and are seeing some ECU's being listed and replying the next link is fine also.

That would only leave the fact that some core ECU's are needing a bit of a Kick up their behinds.
Let me know how you get on Thumbs Up

Thanks BBS let me try and will keep informed... but my queestion:

1.- to get settings info back and read the serial number from the Vehicle server like its serial number this link is fine, I need to have connect the VE to ECU?
If not, Yes I can read the serial number(I suposse is the server setting information andn I see the serial number) and No can no read serial number of the attached VCI 2

2.- Sorry I don´t undersant what you men with " run the vehicle scan and are seeing some ECU's being listed and replying the next link is fine also" If this is when I connect VE to ECU, I can read suspension menu but when I read instrumentation, ECU error appears.

Does the hard reset could be a solution?

Ian

I bought MSV2 2 years ago and I have multi single license. I knew BBs forum suport, I posted but no answer (i know until monday no news) this is the reason I also posted here, some Faultmate users here have a lot of experience and may can help (this is my first problem in 2 years working with faultmate that I can not sort by myself.

Of course Ian.

A hard reset is not a last solution to us but almost a standard starting point.

I cannot tell you the number of times we first plugged into a vehicle at the dealers for doing development work only to find many core ECU's non responsive to diagnostic communications.

Hiya Santi
The VCI2 we supply is nothing but an intelligent electronic interface between the vehicle server and the High and Low speed CAN Buses of the vehicle.

I would happily suspect it to be a problem in your case except that we have now supplied over 500 of them with less than 5 having proven to be faulty in some way and none developing faults after any period of time.

A vehicle scan that shows communications with some ECU's on both the High and Low speed Busses proves that there is no problem with your VCI2's ability to communicate on either Bus.

At first it was a little concerned, but when I saw that the faultmate worked fine in the other D3 (my faultmate is a multilicense) I understood that the problem was in my D3, this is the reason I did a hard-reset.

But You know, This car is full of great wisdom

I had this problem today on a members car VSE 024 ECU ERROR tried all sorts to kick it up the ass but ran out of time.

The above error happened the first time loading the snotm file the first stage of the file loaded then I got the above message after this I just kept getting com error messages and noticed the radio had locked out and wouldn't turn on and the nav screen just had the Landrover symbol in and wouldn't go past that stage had to do a hard reset to bring it all back then just kept getting com errors Confused

The Msv is working ok as I went on to do cotd and pair a new key.

Any help much appreciated Thumbs Up

I will try and log on black box and have a search around see what I can find.

Cheers
