I have some sympathy with your principle that a slight variation probably won't make much difference on road ...but it could possibly off-road if for example you have a wheel or two off the ground and then all the remaining weight is placed upon the others.

People will generally just take the risk and go with what they feel is correct ...I would recommend that where it's possible to stick within the specs and if you can't \ don't want to... then at least make sure you advise your insurer Thumbs Up

I understand what your saying and the laws is there for a reason and the specs. Not sure about the offroad theory in full though as surely the D3 G4's had spec'd tyres that were not standard and they were for off road and of course the load ratings on a tyre are for the load it can take at its full speed rating therefore over 4 tonne at 100 -130 mph but obviously not worth a risk and especially with the insurance side as you may be left with a big bill.

Cheers Ceekay Thumbs Up

Load index 106

well... thats me just fitted my NEW summer wheels/Tyres that I got with the car last Oct when i bought it from the Local Landrover dealer. The tyres are 275/40/20 with a Load Index of 106.. YES 106. I checked my log book and that is the Legal requirement in this country (Norway)... Rolling Eyes

I dont think they would be recommended if they werent up to the job? In Norway they make rules even to make rules Whistle

well 275/40x20 106's are standard RRS tyres. To "match", in terms of size against a standard D3 255/55x19 you need 275/45x20's Thumbs Up
