Special program and transmission fault

Hi, just took delivery of my first D3 V8 SE 2006 and tonight the dash lit up with the following two messages AND the gear lever would not come out of P: 1) transmission fault, limited gears available 2) system fault, special programs not available

Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you
Louis

Having just had my alternator go, these are symptomatic of low voltage, check for charge voltage, and if you can give the battery a good charge up if the D3 has been standing for a while Thumbs Up

~The car needs an input from the brake pedal switch to allow the gear lever to be moved out of Park. May be a good place to start, and possibly related to the other faults Thumbs Up

Hey guys, disco mikey, you were pretty close as it had something to do eith the brake pedal switch, but the biggest problem was the computer board part of the gear lever. Sme substance seems to have leaked down the gear lever and caused some sortof short. Quick short term fix s to switch the caron and off a few times, wait 30 seconds and it would work...
Thanks for replies and interest shown. Hope I dont have to count on your advice again soon Very Happy
