Has anybody acquired one of the official expedition roof racks? How are they for noise. Any opinions welcomed.Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

I've got the LR Expedition Roof Rack fitted.
There doesn't seem to be much wind noise until you reach 70. Above that it doesn't get too noisy, but it does produce a throbbing sound - similar to the one you often get if you have one of the rear windows open.
We've made good use of it already and think it is far better than just roof-rails. I'm currently considering removing the rail (as this can be done - see other postings relatiing to Tent on Roof), to see if the noise reduces/disappears and whether I get any improvement in mpg.
I've always found it useful having the roof rack on as it helps to spot the car in big car parks Coffeecup

Oh happy memories of my old '90.
Stuck at the ramp in a multi-storey - wedged the roof when visiting the car park next to our Hull office when I was a humble trainee.
And the office senior partner was behind, stuck in his big fat jag for at least half an hour whilst I cajoled NCP staff and large passers-by to sit in the rear and squish the suspension down to allow me to reverse back.
Still - it made the NCP staff's day- they took pity and let me park in their spots next to the exit for free. I was far too lowly to be recognised by senior boss man (thankfully). And total damage to car was 1" scratch to roof rib (the old 90s had 3 external roof ribs).
Picked up our new Disco 3 last night. First thing my wife said was that she was never going to take it into the local multi-storey.
..actually, now I think about it, we had another embarassing incident in multi-storey many years ago. My mate's Subaru; 4 of us going to a mountain bike race and his brand new expensive bike on 'upright' roof brackets (thankfully the other three were in the boot)- you can guess the rest of the story. At least he managed to get full claim off the insurance!Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Sorry can't tell you the price of the Roof Rack as it was included as part of the negociation to buy the car (ex Demonstrator).
I only had one other incident in a multi-storey that I can recall. We had cleared the over-hang at the entrance so set off around the car park. Got concerned that the Ceiling RSJs were a bit low at one point so drove along steadily leaning out of the window checking as I went under each beam. Then as I was going round the last bend on the down ramp there was a sudden thud...... I hadn't hit the roof, but I had driven into the side of the wall.. Coffeecup
