Pics of my light wiring. Help needed.

just took the beast into a local 4x4 land rover specialist to try to get the new HSE lights units fitted to my 59 plate XS, as they are Bi-xenon and have the fairy lights (which work when switched on, but the main beam does not so thought these guys could get them activated)?
BUT on close inspection, there seems to be a mod made to the wiring of the lights, not by me and I really don't think that LR would have done it, so can anyone think why the wiring is as it is? It appears a blue wire has been cut out and re joined with a piece of black and red wire joined together....??? STrange... Will this be causing the lights NOT to work when they are plugged in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

To me that looks like the cables been cut (maybe by accident) and then fixed/botched together - I'd go back to the indy and ask why the cut the cable in the first place.

Indeed that is correct, they have a unit that plug into the car, bit like a VAG com I guess and can code the car to accept lights BUT there is an issue with that wiring and I wonder why on earth it looks like that, and of course if it will have an effect on the outcome of the re-programing... Need someone local with a faultmate, but Im in Sussex, I don't think anyone close has one..

I would peel the tape back and see if they have connected a diode in the circuit and if not re connect the wires as they should be and start from there Thumbs Up

If its blue with a gray/silver trace its for the main beam and will go to pin 10 of the connector.

Their are only 2 tools that can code and change the CCF on this and they are the Faultmate and possibily Autologic though im not sure on AL, Even the dealer cant do it.

If the car is a non Xenon car and has not ever had xenons fitted you WILL need them coding no matter what you do. The FET in the BCU is designed to sense changes and over voltages and cut power to the light incase of a fault of which its doing when you add the current dragging xenons V the halogens.

Superb Pete thank you for your help, It is indeed a blue wire with silver fleck but although xenons are not yet activated, once they are can you foresee any other problem with the lights as the wiring has been tampered with?

Pete fitted mine. If I were you, I'd get in touch with him and see if he's heading south anytime soon and arrange a meeting to flash up the lights. Thumbs Up

The activation is for dipped beam xenon, the wire is for main beam so are not connected hence no reason you should have any problem with the xenon dipped beam once activated.

Repair the wire and make it nice its probabally from a spot light bodge at some point.
