Going to attempt EGR blanking.. some advice first please
Hi All,
Got my blanking kit from Pete at Bell Auto.. (thanks for the super speedy service. Ordered at 1pm yesterday, they arrive today)..
Before I dive in.. some questions:
1. Any pointers for a good quality guide (inc pictures) on how to do this?
2. What tools will be required
3. How long should it take to complete
Any help most welcome..Selling my wifes Audi A3 2.0LTR FSI DSG Sport to help pay for her D3

May be slightly worse for wear tomorrow.. so will take your advise and spray my nuts tomorrow and boxing day.. here we come..
I'm thinking of getting some new tools. Have to admit, my tool collection does seem to dwindle and I can guarantee that i won't have the right tool for the job..
Are there any special tools required for this job? i.e. are some of the nuts difficult to get too and do I need a special extension?
thanks

+1 for WD40 then do the job another day (I wouldn't do it Xmas day to be honest)
Use loads of rags to stuff down all the gaps to stop any bolts falling down. On this note get youself a telescopic magnet to retrieve said lost bolts. Think Tesco had them at £1.00 only a few weeks ago. These are invaluable for this and other engine bay jobs.
Should take no longer than 2hrs. Good luck MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

Halfords tools are terrible and, almost without exception, should be avoided.
A couple of exceptions to this:
- The 'Pro' range of socket sets are very good - so get what you need in a large set as they are expensive as individual items.
- The torque wrenches; these are actually made by Norbar who are a very reputable brand but are much cheaper in the Halfords colours (even after the big price hike a year or 2 ago).
But please keep your eyes on the socket sets, spanners and torque wrenches and don't be dulled into buying anything else!
(The Halfords ratchet spanners, actually made by Gearwrench, are pretty handy too.)
We should have sticky or a wiki for quality D3 & D4 appropriate tools on the forum. Quality tools make all the difference, especially when they do not cost silly money.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
