| Denso sat nav ecu problems |

Hello new user here just recently bought my 57 hse disco 4 wks now and i love it to bits well and trully bitten by the disco bug! I am having some bother with the navigation ecu! All was working ok when bought it but now the screen says insert map DVD when you click agree on the sat nav screen. So I have tried to get the sat nav unit to eject the map disc an it doesn't eject as if disc is stuck doesn't even make an attempt. There is a red back light that is on so power is getting to it. It done this previosly and started working within a day or so later and it has been like this for A week now! starting to get frustrated ! If anyone has any suggestions please let me know ASAP ? plz

There's a slide lock on the SatNav DVD unit, did you unlock it before trying to eject the disk ? The End

Slide the lock/unlock lever to unlocked.
Eject the DVD map disc, re-nsert it.
Listen for the DVD to spin.
If the DVD spins up followed shortly by the 'insert DVD nav disc' error then it is likely the optic is faulty.

Well guys thanks for replys, I have had the lock in the correct position aswell don't know what to do next ! is it possible to get the unit repaired if it is the lens that is faulty would a tv/DVD repair specialist be up for the job Ian or what would you suggest !

Thanks Ian got that message I unfortunately can't get the disc out to see what condition t is in. Are you in the business of repairing this sort of item ? really don't know what to do next ? a new unit would be an arm and a leg!! Supercharged grill, Economy chip, Chrome pack

Yes we do repairs to this sort of stuff.
It is limited to what can be repair due to the lack of parts.
LR think you should buy new not get it repaired. ..so what can I fiddle with today that ain't broken ...?

Well guys still no further on sat nav still say ing insert map DVD and will not eject disc. Cannot seem to get a YIB500120 unit anywhere s/h really doing my tits in !! any suggestions please ? Supercharged grill, Economy chip, Chrome pack

2004 to 2009 FFRR/RRS/D3 all the same:
YIB500090, YIB500120, YIB500070, YIB500022, LR018252
2005 Range Rover (connectors on back not the same as D3)

This is from memory - best get some one whith an up-to-date microcat to check it.
The freelander WON't work as it is MOST. ..so what can I fiddle with today that ain't broken ...?

Hi Ian - the sat nav screen on my 05 D3 has started to show a message :sat nav not fitted: Is it possible to get a quote to investigate/repair the problem if i can get it shipped to you?

It is usually the later of the nav units that gives this issue and the powers supply IC that is at fault we can no longer get.

I have a problem with my Satnav whereby it keeps displaying Map/DVD read error (with my original 2006 map disc) but intermittently works for a few seconds. I have tried a newer map without scratches on it and it displays "not a map DVD". Is this a problem with the satnav unit (Denso on Disco 3 2005) and can you repair it?

you can buy a new DVD drive from China, no Problem,
the drive costs with shipping 154.-- Öre, i bought it, my denso works fine again.
The change is easy, it is a flatband cable inside and ca. 10 screws.
