Agree with Slimer, sounds like an electrical issue. Cannot see a corrupt software issue being behind this.

Thanks guys, will see what they have to say tomorrow.
My worry is that they say they can find nothing wrong, in that case do I just hand the car back to Mrs H and say there you go, nothing to worry about Exclamation

BTW have checked the battery terminals recently after reading another post.
They were spot on.

Could also be a CJB wiring fault rather than on the battery itself.

Cliff,
did everything shut down? as in no stereo, engine, no dash warning lights, no heater etc.?
Get them to check the battery terminals for corrosion and the tightness of the link lead from battery +ve to the BJB and the battery -ve connection to the inner wing
If some systems were still active, then it could be a BJB / CJB connection or one of the many -ve connections, it's also possible (although unlikely) that a low-flying aircraft zapped your car with it's radar...

Mrs H said there was nothing at all on the dash, did not ask her about the stereo or heater, not sure she would have noticed anyway as she was panicing re the car that was heading towards her at 50 Shocked that must have done a good job to avoid her.
I have checked the battery end myself recently and all looked fine.
The dealer has been good and are having the car for 3 days so that they can sort out a few other things at the same time.

Now have a theory as to why D3's go wrong. It is so that when you have driven the Freelander loan car for 3 days you will appreciate the D3 all over again Wink
The one I got today was brand new but there are so many rattles and creaks it is unbeleivable.
Saying that when I had my TD4 for a year and 15k I had no visits to the dealer Rolling Eyes

Hi cliff, had a similar issue with my rrs.. cut out three times when going full pelt down the motorway.. a simple roll to a stop, off and on of the engine sorted it, but the last time it happened, i was lucky to avoid a big truck!

Car went into LR, after i called out LR Assist, Volvo Estate loaner given, RRS dissapeared for a week, they took the wiring apart and put it all back together again, no problems after that, they said it was a wiring fault somewhere.. i tried to delve deeper, but no details were available.

Car was ok after that, so hopefully you will get you'rs sorted too! glad the wife was ok! good luck with it mate.

Update from Sturgess

Big red stars to Slimer, Winger and TFC apperntly fault traced to -ve lead onto inner wing. As I say I had checked the battery end. Rolling Eyes

This may be worth making all members alert to as there seem to have been a few now and this can obviously be a life threatening fault if it happens at the wrong time.

Also tracking being done AGAIN today and a new screen being fitted tomorrow due to a fault in the elements.
Replacement tyres still under discussion Rolling Eyes

Thanks to Sturgess, best dealer by far of the ones I have used.

BTW Mrs H can't wait to get the D3 back as she hates the Freelander Laughing

follow the black lead from the rearmost battery terminal to the M8 stud on the inner wing, adjacent to the under-bonnet fuse box (BJB) Wink
