Just as well I read this thread, mine isn't firing but I have just under the quarter tank in it. Just made an appointment for later in the week for the car doctor to look at it but I think I'll try putting a bit more fuel onboard and trying again tomorrow morning first cause that actually sounds quite logical. I had thought it would be linked to the fuel light but thinking it through the warning light comes on at 59 miles range so if you're away somewhere remote the last thing you want is the FBH firing until you have plenty fuel to feed it and the engine. Thumbs Up

I shall post again tomorrow to say whether or not it fires.

Yep... as long as it's 5c or lower and your coolant is below (76-77C) your FBH should fire up regardless of your CC settings etc.

I seem to remember last year (or the year before) that the consensus of opinion was that the CC had to be switched on in order for the FBH to fire up.

Mines an 06 and cc doesn't have to be on. Is it down to the FBH model (whether it's W-BUS or not)??

Strange? Perhaps it has to be on with cars that only have climate control and not the full air-con? just a theory. Dont even know why were tying to make logic out of LR electrics we must all be mad. We know they all have their own brian and will do whateva they wish wheneva they want Laughing

I believe air con on its own only provides cold air but full air con (that is air con with climate control) will regulate temp i.e. if you set it at 20 degrees it will use hot and cold air when required to maintain that temp.

So i was lead to believe - not sure if any difference in LR model years or spec levels but what i do know for certain is my fbh works no matter if its on or off.

smoking

Hi
It is normal for the unit to smoke like this due to carbon build up as said in a previous post, your FBH sits idle all summer and often dosnt kick in at all and the only way is to use the oval timer or faultmate to cycle it so just grin and bear it and get used to it.
Mine did that to me while I was stopped at ajunction once and I thought the bloody thing was on fire it was a bit unerving to say the least
cheers
