Hi
I noticed that when i select reverse in my d3 the lights dont come on/stay on.
When i start up the d3 the reverse lights flash so i assume the bulbs are ok.
Sometimes as i am selecting reverse the lights come on as i enter reverse
gear but go out when i engage it.
I suspect its a switch/sensor out of adjustment but i have no documentation to track
it down.......(waiting for delivery of replacement handbook)
Any advice appreciated.

Hi
ref R in the display.
I just checked and it did come on for a split second and went out, seems to be as eratic as the reverse lights
Tried it again a couple of times, never remained on and again displayed for a second and went out.

Thank you discowex..
I tried your instructions and they worked a treat.
As per your instructions with a little bit added
Find a longish bit of road.
Turn of engine, remove seatbelt and lock doors.?
Wait for red park light to go out.
Insert key start up and select low box,
Select reverse and reverse until the r appears in the display.
Place gear into 1st and drive forward again in low box until 1 appears in the display.
Place gear into 2nd and drive forward again in low box until 2 appears in the display
Place gear into 3rd and drive forward again in low box until 3 appears in the display
Place gear into 4th and drive forward again in low box until 4 appears in the display
Place gear into 5th and drive forward again in low box until 5 appears in the display
Place gear into 6th and drive forward again in low box until 6 appears in the display
When comleted turn off engine, lock doors and await red park sign to go out.
Restart the disco select normal drive and issue clears.
So now the amber light has gone out on my screen and the reverse lights now work.
I dont know if i needed to lock the doors but it appeard that it work better simulating
complete stop (I even removed my seatbelt.......maynot be necessary though).
Thanks again

My D3 has developed the same symptoms, Reversing lights do not activate when I put the car in Reverse, yet they do sometimes come on when I disengage. This puzzled me as I had changed both bulbs (using the more expensive 4x4 ruggedised bulbs from halfords - anyone else use them? or are they just a waste of money...).
Anyway, I'll try these instructions to see if it resolves the problem. Thanks for this great forum....
Oh, related to changing the bulbs, should one be able to disconnect the multiplug quite easily?
thanks "...I'm so broke I can't even pay attention..."

This solved my reversing light and amber parking brake issue. My only problem was finding a suitable, longish quiet road to do this...got many stares from people seeing my car reverse for no apparent reason, then drive off rapidly.. "...I'm so broke I can't even pay attention..."
