Why does my service indicator never go off? |
|
I have owned the LR3 (2006 V8 HSE) for almost 2 years from 109k kms to it's current 145k km. Never had a service light go off. Is it possible that the PO had this switched off somehow?

I'm assuming you've actually had it serviced by a qualified technician who has the tool to reset the indicator...? ____

Do you mean it never displays (rather than it always displays and won't go off?)
There isn't a light, if it due a service soon (depending on time and/or mileage since last service) it will display a countdown briefly in the message centre when you turn the key The End

Hi ktm,
I posted this very same question a while back. The general consensus was that it's a switch in the computer that in my case is turned off and my dealer couldn't find
To be honest my garage tells me when my next service is due, tget even manage to work out from my normal mileage when i'll be getting near a service interval and pop a reminder out so I never did go hunting the elusive switch. Maybe one day
Hope that helps answer your question

I left out that I have done all the service. The vehicle has never been to a dealer or shop.
I have done:
4 oil/filter changes at aprox. 10k kms interval
pollen filter
air filter
clean the MAF
sparkplugs
diff fluids
transfer case fluid
rear brake pads
front tie-rods
pasenger front wheel bearing
replaced air comp.
sway bar bushing shim kit
Lots of service just no service indicator. I guess it got turned off or was never activated on Canadian models.

yes the service light can be switched off ...i have done it a few times .
If your servicing it your self ...then whats the problem ? ..you would only need to take it in and get it switched off each time you service ...or buy yourself a service reset tool G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

No problem, just wondering thats all . I am in one of those few lulls where the LR3 er.Disco 3 doesn't require my wrenching attention.
Knock on wood that there will no unexpected projects through the winter until my front brakes in the spring.
