Hi irishrover, seems a coincidence, I have just fitted a set of Michelin Latitudes (19") and I now have a pull to the left. I have changed the wheels around, and it is a lot less noticable, but I am booked in next week at Landrover Yeoville for a service and tracking. When it was on Goodyear Wranglers, the car ran straight without the need for correction.

What's this about ?, what does "tight tolerance mode " physically do ?

Without diverting the discussion away from tracking etc.. I've noticed a strong pull to the left on my D3 when the tyre pressures up front are out. I've got a very slow puncture (leaky valve I think) on the NSF. Every few weeks, I notice that the car is pulling quite strongly to the left, so I know it's time to top up the tyre. Each time, there is only a 4 or 5 psi difference between near and off-side front tyres. Once they are the same, the pull goes away and the car drives true. This always surprises me somewhat, but has happened repeatedly - presumably due to the increased roll resistance of the softer tyre (Wranglers BTW).
Is it possible that the cause in the initial post in this thread was due to tyre pressure imbalance after fitment of new tyres?

Having recently had all the rear bushes done, 2 new Latitudes on the rear and then had alignment done, my experience is a huge difference and handling and sensitivity of the car at both ends.
As per my gallery image my alignment was way off, which had ruined the inner edges of the rear tyres. After all the above was done it is a lot sharper but also more susceptible to tramlines etc. It feels much more sensitive to the road.
I also find if a tyre pressure is off you soon notice it in handling, squealing etc
so it would not surprise me it has the effects above. Tony

I've been participating in a lot of threads on this subject, even a few days ago - i've had it done 3 times since getting the car in March.
Bottom line I've found through a combination of experience and superb knowledge from the members here is:
1. Many high street places say they are experts and do 4 wheel alignment but don't have the kits to do the job. You will get nowhere with them. (Don't even think about tyre places run by kids who charge around £30. They'll do more damage than good).
2. Key to look for is Hunter equipment or equivalent league and most importantly the kit to put the thing (if with AS) into tight tolerance mode and to follow the procedure of ensuring ride height etc are level/to LR specs and that they set the guides for the correct 2005+ years, even if it's an 04.
3. Paying under £100 is questionable. Places I've SINCE found to have the kit and knowhow charge at least £125.
4. Don't forget to remind them to clamp the steering wheel dead straight in the process also, otherwise it's blinking annoying. Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black

Thread update time...
just had my steering tie rode ends replaced this afternoon, and there is a noticeable improvement ....the pull to the left has been vastly reduced,as has the tramlining.
Any residual pulling can only be due to the amount of wear on my front tyres,(Zeros)as part of the the replacement procedure is a wheel alignment afterwards .... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Based on the combined experiences would it be fair to summarise as follows:
Serious pull to side/tramlining - check tyre pressures, then steering, then alignment.
Uneven tyre wear - check tyre pressures, then alignment, then steering, bushes etc?
Also agree re: Hunter machines. Where I go in Maldon, Essex they have 2 types. What appears to be a "normal" one and the massive great big one. They charge £110 iirc for both ends (£65 for the front, £45 for the rear if they have to adjust anything, otherwise the check is free!). Given they do lots of supercars on it I'm happy to pay since they seem to know what they are doing. Tony

Think that covers it yes
I have now had
Arb bushes done
Tie rod ends replaced
wheel alignment (twice)
and regularly check my tyre pressures
The car still pulls to the left, albeit at a vastly reduced rate.
I can only put this down to the tyres.I have read on here that the Zeros are prone to wandering as they approach the end of their life.
Ahh...Maldon...spent many a happy night in the Jolly Sailor.....do they still run the Maldon Mud Race ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

The Mud Race is a global event and broadcast live across the world! Cold but fun day out, the River Blackwater is a cold place in winter. The Promenade Park is rammed with spectators.

well if you decide to do it and need a place to stay, let us know.
You'll have to bring your own car as you won't be getting in mine afterwards
Presumably that was the Chappel Beer Festival

Indeed it was a typo.....haven't been for a few years....great night out.....right down to my wife phoning up the train company and getting another train put on at Marks Tey due to the branch line running late and missing the connection....
Thanks for offer but I WONT be doing the mud race.... watching it was painful enough.. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
