worn FRONT tyres
When compared to the rear tyres, I have noticed my fronts are wearing out at an alarming rate (HSE 19" Pirelli Scorpions all round). I have searched the site & found lots of threads dealing with uneven wear issues, but none associated with this. I have done 7,500 mls since new (May), & both fronts - at a guess - have probably lost half their legal tread, whilst both rears still look virtually new. The cross-sectional wear rate for each front tyre seems fairly even. The way things are going, I'll be looking at a new front pair before the 1st 15k service. I should add that the car is never asked to tow anything, nor carry heavy loads, nor have to endure high-speed cornering etc (currently averaging 25-26mpg).
So... is this normal?DGRR
My HSE is the same age and I've done 11,000 miles and my tires wearing out very fast too. They are doing the same as yours.
While the Scorpions handle very well, I'll look at putting something else on next time.Matt

If I remember correctly, I think you said originally looked at buying the car I eventually bought (from Hartwells), but fancied Zermatt instead of my Bonatti?!
Anyway, I agree with you on the Scorpions handling aspect, but a set of fronts not managing to legally make the 1st service mark is pathetic, don't you think?
What else would you go for? Goodyears? A search of the site suggests that their on-road tyres are even softer than the Pirellis...DGRR
Yes, I brought the Zermatt from Hartwells, which they got in from stock at Gaydon (but on course to another dealer) and exchanged it with one of theirs in build which was a Bonatti, due the following week.
I would of had the Bonatti, but our previous RRS was this colour and I fancied a change.
So yes, likely you do have that one. I think we have spoken about this before, but my memory is poor.
I'm not sure what my next tyre choice will be. I have a set of off-road Coopers on 17" alloys that I use for off-road use, so I need a tyre that is 100% road use.Matt

I have to say the goodyear wranglers do seem to last... my first set were changed at about 24K and still had about 5mm+ left so would have easily make 30K.2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

That's interesting to hear about the Goodyears - although judging by other site threads, I get the impression that your view is the exception to the Goodyear rule. Anyway, I hope you don't mind me asking, but with 5-6k mls of tread left, why did you change them so early?DGRR

My Pirellis (19") seem to be wearing pretty well, I've covered 12.5k miles. They are certainly wearing evenly & visually there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between front & rear. I'll measure the tread & report back.
I'm used to replacing 2 tyres every 5-10k miles, so the D3 is refreshingly cheap to run (fingers crossed).
Have to say, that the Pirelli's seem so much better on the road than the Goodyear Wrangler HP & so far have coped admirably with gentle off-roading.

those Fuldas look good - but do we know what their wear rate is like?
So far, it seems that another round of Pirellis is the way forward - at Kwik-Fit, they're £162 each if you buy a pair, fitted/balanced etc., which is pretty good. If 4 are needed, they work out at about £145 each.DGRR

My Synchrones have done 30k now, and have still got quite a bit left. My first tyres (Wranglers) lasted less than 30. I have had alignment done since however.
