Where can I check to see when my car was built?
I have a (so I'm told) 2007 D3 VIN SALLAAA137Annnnnn and yes, I know the 7A means it is a 2007 model - BUT - I saw in page 3 of my service manual that my car had a pre-delivery inspection on 2006-12-21 and was sold on 2007-07-30
I therefore want to know if I can check somewhere when the car was actually built in the factory.
Cheers

Open the Bonnet and check the date on the top of the headlight .
The parts are normally fitted within a month of buildG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I believe registering with the topix site and feeding it your VIN will give you the info you're looking for.

xxx7Axxxx indicates a 2007 model year vehicle - despite the vehicle actually being built in 2006 it IS a 2007 model.
Model years don't follow actual years exactly, for Land Rover they start in roughly September/October time and run through to the following August.
So for determining the emissions version, which indicates if you can blank the EGR off without the MIL coming on, the build date is not the important factor - it is the model year you need to look at.
This of course assumes that the South African 2007MY was Euro 4 like UK/Europe D3s!06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Have a look at the 2 EGR bolts that hold the valve to the cooler, if the heads are nearest the front of the car, you have the earlier blankable EGR's, if the heads are nearest the rear (pointing forward) you have the later ones. Or pm me your full chassis & I'll tell you.

Martin yes, I follow you. Maybe I should tell you where I come from...
There are a few 2007 models in RSA that are blanked successfully - we suspect it is the early built ones... I never knew if mine could be blanked as I thought mine was one of the later models... only first registered end of July 2007. Just shows how long it was standing on the showroom floor.
Thanks Steve - sent pm.

OK, I guess my picture is not too clear...

But Steve's confirmation that it is an Euro 3 spec is good enough for me... seems that the 7A cars sent to South Africa all had E-diff and is so far we can tell Euro 3.
