Dorko,

You have got to be joking. I cannot see how that type of price can be justified. Wish there was sone way we could all pressure Land Rover in comming up with a acceptable price for the updated maps.

It's only a bit of data being transferred to the internal hard drive, and maybe a software upgrade to the navigation application.

I would expect $100 to be at the high end.

Looks like I will be keeping the old maps for a while. Cheaper to change the car Big Cry
 Discovery 4 2.7 SE
Defender 130 TD5 - Daily Drive
2.7t Caravan
Java TD5 HSE - Gone but not forgotten.
Java V6 Freelander - Had fun in it.

Hahahaha yeah expensive!

You know the sad thing, the Nav is so crap as it is.

The way i'm justifying it to my self, is I dont want a $90k car with a tom tom when i have a so called built in Nav. Whistle

I will keep you posted to see what the price i can get them down.

I just traded in my discovery 4 with garmin maps on aftermarket kenwood system and it worked great.
I purchased a Range Rover Sport ( $115,000 ) same nav system as Discovery.
The nav system is the biggest load of crap I've ever come across, will not show up places that have been in existance for years, goes quiet if you take the wrong route etc.
My wife's car has igo8 and its very good as was garmin in my discovery.
It's an absolute disgrace that Landrover should be putting this crap on their already expensive vehicles, we should all get together enmasse and bombard Landrover until they do something.
On average, in Australia, map software costs about $150 for an update, Landrover, stop screwing us!

I have the for life Nu Maps update for my Garmin - cost a one off fee of £75.00 and I get new maps four times a year - OK they are download only and this takes time BUT maps always up to date.

The maps are far more sophisticated than the LR system EVEN though they both use Navteq! So come on Land Rover if a newish smallish company can do it why can't you?

BTW I see Garmin have now taken over Navigon to enable them to a bigger 'IN' to OEM Sat Nav for car companies - perhaps LR will take note.
LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

Rather bizarre routing home today- merrily caning it down M4 this afternoon, when directed by premium Nav System to come off the motorway at Newbury, go across the roundabout and come straight back onto the motorway again; seems programmed by Dad's Army or something...
While I'm on the subject, the church village bypass doesn't seem to exist on my 6 week old £50k car, although I have been driving along it for the last 12 months. Not sure how often these maps get updated, but you'd think they might have added it on by now- it's only been planned for the last 15 years or so!
