New member, new owner of a 2009 D3 HSE. I have 2 questions:
1) Where are all of you mounting the GVIF in your discoveries?
2) I'm interested in a reverse camera for use only when reversing. Do I need a switch at all?
TIA

If you install it correctly (as I did) and just use the camera, it switches on when put in reverse, no other switches needed. automatically.
Where to put it? there is an excellent spot next to the nav discplayer under the left hand (my drivers) seat and the midconsole. Is a bit fumbly but when it fits it sits nicely, especially when using a bit of strong velcro.RLD Sump Guard

Just found the pdf guys, sorry to disturb. One more quick question- I haven't found much on folks fitting front cams. Looks like the GVIF could take the additional inputs. Not sure I care about the D4 style split screen. Think it's possible to toggle between the different cams with either the GVIFs remote or a new dash mounted switch. Anyone done this?
TIA

I'm from the US. Parking spaces are TIGHT over here. I'd like a camera to help me pull into tight spaces. One question would be if I'm backing, can I override the reversing cam so I can see my front cam?
I really want the reverse cam. Would be very interested in a front cam solution as it may help me decide whther I mount a GVIF controlling switch on my dash or not.

Me.
The gvif comes with a toggle button which enables you to switch between av1, av2 and av3. The r/v camera is on av4. The av4 is switched by the reversing light power.

Normally not. The gvif receives power from the reversing light and automatically goes to av4, that's the sweet of it. You need to put a switch and a diode in the power signal from the r/v light. When you want to toggle views, you flip the switch to 'manual' and you can use the toggle button to go through satnav, av1, av2, av3 views.
If you want to view the r/v camera in this mode you will need to split the input signal from the r/v camera so that it is connected to av4 AND one of the other av inputs. This is just an (rca?) cable split, costs just a little.
I will put my latest install scheme in my gallery. I have three cameras connected:
- r/v camera (also on av1)
- wireless receiver that connects to the wireless camera on the caravan
- hitch camera mounted in the upper tailgate

great,....... not! managed to get the dual SatNav to GVIF cable snagged when reversing my seat. So cables out of the white GVIF connector. Mailed HIDS3U to see whether I can get another cable, but they haven't come back to me yet, don't know how quick they usually are. Any other suggestions where to get a cable like this?RLD Sump Guard

for some reason the lines do not show up, even though I have enabled them in the menu. When in menu I can adjust them, but they don't seem to stick when going out of the menu and reverse.
Update: easily forgotten, there is a small 3-wire connector that has 1 grey cable. That one needs to be linked with the other grey-wire from the big wiring set and connected to the camera cable. When you set the menu right, lines show up even though information on the site says it's a nolines camera. All in all, works well, but not nearly as nice as the D4 rear camera where the lines move when moving the steering wheel.RLD Sump Guard
