cruise control fuse??

hello,
posting this thread to help out my pop who owns a D3 Tdi V6. on a trip back home the other day his cruise control decided to stop working. we have looked through the owners manual with no luck to find if there is a fuse to check for the cruise control?? if there is does anyone know where it is?

and by some searching i have done for this, i hope it's not under the dash as pop and i both have large hands and it sounds like you need tiny bendy hands to get to them...... Shocked

thanks for any help you can give us.

Hello feral4mr2, Welcome aboard!

I've no idea about the fuse! Get pop to take it back to the dealer. Sounds like a warranty job

feral,
Does it work after 'reset' - i.e. ignition switched off and on? If so, you may find that the 'clock spring' assembly under the steering wheel needs replacing - I had this work done under warranty. ('fraid I don't know a TSB or part number to quote)

You just here for the Hols? or do you live here?

Is your pop local (ie is it Ken or Neil)?

feral, sometimes the car just needs a 're-boot' like a computer.

Tell Ken to mention it the next time he goes up to get a service so they can see if any fault codes are logged.

If he's going to Kal then get it done there. Trevor Chapman is the tech and he's really good.

I'm having also cruise control problem. What makes it very annoying is that error may occur when ever; from first time when trying to engage CC after start to fault free period of a week.

I haven't visited service since failure do not have behaviour pattern of any kind. Does enyone know if there is left error code on computer memory of these malfuntions?

It is no fun to get of from hiway just to make "billgates" reboot Crying or Very sad

Sounds like the same issue I have with the cruise control, dealer could see no DTC's last time they had a look at it. Have discovered the secret to keeping it working is not adjusting the speed with it, just on, off and resume. So next time it goes in I know how to induce the problem so they can plug in and look for DTC's straight away before I switch the engine off

Si, they need to switch off the engine to hook up to IDS..... nothing stopping 'em hooking up to it then driving around knowing how to induce it though Wink

I thought that too.... untill the day first press it didnt come on .... has happened again once, so probably just a statistical thing... the more you press it the more likely it is to happen. Sad

Im also toying with idea it only happens with CD player on... but think Ive disproven that theory too. Confused

I'm not suprised, the only commonality between those two systems is the 12V battery under the bonnet Thud
