Reduced Performance Message.Should I risk travelling with it
Just took my D4 for oil and filter change, it done 1400 miles. Here the dealer does the first changes of the oil and filter at 1500 miles. I changed it also because I will be going overland to Italy next Wednesday for 7 days and I said better change it.
Went to pick up car and after 600meters it gave me reduce performance and the red triangle came up. I took back and the dealer put it back on the computer and the fault was “lack of boostâ€. I then went out to try it agian. Then the engine starting making strange loud noise, like grinding and the ref counter went up and started speeding by itself. After that the loud noise return and the yellow and red triangle came on agian. I turned back to the dealer.
It is still at the dealer trying to find what is wrong. I will be going overland to Italy with Land Rover Italy next Wednesday so now I cannot decide whether or not should I go if they give me the disco on Monday. I have every thing paid for the tour, should I ask Land rover for compensation if I do not get a refund from the tour organizers.

To me that sounds like a blown turbo. Quite why it suddenly happened after it was at the dealer for it's first oil change is strange. I hope I'm wrong.

Hope not nighthawk. I also noted that the MPG is very low, like 15 MPG
I think that I should invest in a Fault Mate.
The dealer is clueless of what is wrong with it. He told me that they change some turbo on the Disco3’s but since this is the first D4 he has no idea what is wrong. Hope he finish it by Monday morning.

Could be that they overfilled with oil which would also cause erratic revs by itself if it gets into the pistons and burns itself also. They need to get it sorted! Do you have equivalent of LRA cover which would give you a loan car as you shouldn't drive it....Bodsys Brake Bible

I have checked the invoice and I was charged for 12 liters of oil. I know that he left me 1 liter for top ups to take it with me, so that makes 11 liters of oil. I asked the dealer if he over filled when I took it back, he told me that he filled to the MAX line.
Is the amount correct? I am trying to find on the manual the amount it takes but have not found the info yet.

Thought to myself "that would be easy to check", then remembered no dipstick! That's progress for you.

11 litres!
I think that would fill it to the brim!
Why don't dealers read the manual?
If the guy filling it continued filling till it till he could see it on the MAX mark, without waiting 5 minutes for the oil to settle in the sump I can see how he could have used 11 litres.

Just checked the manual it say 5.7 liters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is either they did a mistake in the invoice and over charged me or they were sleeping and overfilled. This is not the first Discovery they did the service to.

If it really was overfilled, I would insist for a new car, plus a refund for your trip.
Don't trust the car even if they get it running again. Damage would almost certainly have been done, especially since you heard those horrible noises.

Monday morning I will be behind the service door at 6 am with invoice of the oil change and the manual. I told the person in charge “did you overfill it†he said no.
The only proof I have that they over fill is the invoice. This morning I went to get the manuals because I found it strange that it started working badly after the oil change and it had the hood open, I was told that they are working on it.

Ask them to drain and refill it. If the correct amount of oil comes out, pay for the oil change. If double the amount of oil that should be in there comes out, go to town on the dealership 2014 D4 XS

Get LR involved before it goes back. If they drain it you have no way of knowing how much came out, if they want they can easily say "of course 5 ltrs came out" regardless what the truth is. Sound like you need an expert opinion on it before the garage starts messing with it and pouring the evidence into the waste oil container. I'm no techie but it sounds like if it has been overfilled then it will have left a lot of other evidence, again an expert report would be the route to go.
LR should be providing you with a loan car anyway as it has broken down through no fault of yours, especially if it's for a LR Italy trip.
