TT CS has always been crap and the software downloads are really slow all the time, I found a website that was all for TT product and I now get all my files and updates from them, a good site for Sat Nav stuff is this one http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?...m&f=93

Flack Thumbs Up

I had no idea you could use another site to update things I thought you could only use the TT site. After all my problems I sort of lost faith in the device and exchanged it for a Garmin which I knew I could fit in the D4 surround.

The CS was simply unbelievable Evil or Very Mad 11 times she had me uninstall and then reinstall the "MyTomTom" software. After a while I said to her, whats the point ? if its not working after the 2nd or 3rd time its not going to work, but no, she knew best Thud

Its a pity, as I really liked the 6" screen, but I was not prepared to go through all the hassle. BTW I am still waiting for a manager to contact me, 13 days and counting Censored

Sorry dsj1979, only just seen this.
I have the 1490TV with a rear view camera attached and it works perfectly.
You have to provide power to the camera before the Garmin will see it. The Garmin DOES NOT provide power to the camera, only an AV lead.
I took my camera power feed from the reversing light positive lead. As soon as I select reverse, the Garmin see's the camera and puts the image on the screen. As soon as I select 1st gear, the power to the camera is lost and the Garmin reverts back to normal Sat Nav mode.
 Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.

I actually fitted it last night....

It turned out to be the connection into the sat nav. I've playing with a few and managed to get it working. I've wired it upto the reverse light, unfortunately when off some signal must be going through as the tv wasn't playing, just showing static. I've got some more playing to do but it seems to work without the ground connected. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll wire a relay up connecting the ground wire to the camera when the reverse light is on. It's getting there.... Smile

To get hold of TLO, go back to his post on the first page of this thread (he's 4 posts from the bottom of the page) and click on the PM (personal message) or EMAIL button at the bottom of his post.

He's a great guy, very efficient and knowledgable.

Wow that looks great, proper job there 😁

Couple of questions though, why did you use a D4 nav surround and not the D3 one? Another thing on my mind is how do you turn the nav on is your power switch on the front? What I'm thinking is when you turn the car off the nav will stay on if the power switch isn't accessible?

Cheers
Dave

Ps soz if this is daft question 😜

The D3 doesn't have a separate surround if I remember correctly. The Garmin unit powers itself on and off with the ignition, so there is no need to access the on/off button. Thumbs Up

Dave, when you switch the ignition off, the Garmin 1490TV sees the power loss and offers you two options on the touch screen, Switch Off or Stay On using internal battery. Wink
Garmin automatically boots up when you turn the key again. Thumbs Up

Hi,

Has anyone ordered one of these surrounds recently?? If so can you let me know the LR part number?

Ordered one from my local dealer using the number in the original post and just went to pick it up and it was a piece of foam!! Maybe LR have changed the numbers or one of us got it wrong when I ordered it. I've got a d4 dash/nav surround on order now but I reckon it will be the real slimline one they use on the d4 with factory sat nat nav.

Any help much appreciated

Cheers
Dave
