2. A general lack of courtesy between members e.g. new members taking the pi$$ out of replies that are meant to be helpful, but construed as “teaching granny to suck eggs†because in their original request they haven’t given any background and then think your reply is a wise crack – happened to me in the last 24 hrs and the prompt for this post
Just seen the post this refers to, unfortunately you try and help people and get met with pig ignorance at times. I just deploy the smilie and they can whistle for any help from me in the future. Said member is now on my CBA list.
JF, I read that somewhere in my dim distant past!!

As someone who;s been on the site for less than a year, it has been a great help and boon.
I've bought loads of stuff for my D3 via this forum, sold loads of otterboxes and more. I've learnt a lot about my car and had it serviced by TFC etc.
There are a couple of plonkers who feel obliged to try and patronise those they are disagree with or who they feel are somehow inferior to themselves, or who moan at people who try their best. But, like the rest of life, this is simply a reflection of their own psychological issues and inadequacies, so I don't worry about it too much. The majority of people on here are either supportive and/or helpful.
Overall I think it is an excellent site, and frankly sponsors chucking their toys out the pram is good entertainment. The main danger is the sponsor allows the "real" them to appear and alienate their customers.
It probably isn't like the "good ol' days" but then nothing ever is once it gets big, successful and commercial.
If there is one thing that could be done to the site, that is proper indexing of threads about repairs etc to make searching easier.Tony

The forum is still a great place but everyone has to be more selective in what we read and respond to.
its easy to get wound up, especially when you are sitting in a warm comfy chair with a bottle of wine - if some of the comments banded around were said face to face in the pub there would be one awsome punch up 8)
its a shame that certain people get really wound up and then drop out of the forum, but thats their choice unfortunatly.
There are a lot of new users joining with a lot of good and different ideas but it will never be as it was in the "Olden Days", and thats a good thing.
for me its progress Duncan

DSL, you and quite a few others on here know me long enough to know that I don't normally get the hump and start a slagging match on here; infact as you I have a similar CBA list and generally let things slide, just not worth raising my BP over in most of the occasions.
Now I accept that maybe doing this feedback post after having consummed the best part of two bottles of vino probably wasn't one of my wisest moves , yet having re-read what I put on here last night I feel alot of it still stands, but I should have been a bit more sensitive and not eluded so closely to when and where I got prompted to make this statement, the last thing I wanted was to have a particular user singled out - afterall based on my own statement he/she is entilted to their opinions.
I also didn' t want to end up destroying yet another valid technical thread by adding a slagging match to it, and so instead I decided to try and put some feedback about the site as a whole here.
As said above, I meant not to single out the person and comment that got me going, because it wasn't the first time this had happened and it wouldn't be fair to single out one member in particular - unfortunately that seems to have backfired due to my booze inhibited state - for this I apologise unreservedly to the member Sorry LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

You probably will because you're on the wagon so much.
MrH, your first post was a fair comment, and having looked at the other thread I don't think you're off side nor singling out the chap who took a pop at you. It wasn't much of a pop, TBH, but none the less an unhappy post at the end of a hard week. Looking forward to that walk around the battlefields with you next month.

With the number of members and volume of posts, I'm impressed by how civilized the site is. It's a great resource that has helped me out on numerous occasions and introduced me to many interesting people.
I'm sorry Mr H took a hit, but I think his post will help ensure the site remains a great place and generally civilized. Treat people as you would wish to be treated and all will be well.
