Agreed DG, but it's still a shame LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Of course it is .....the biggest shame for me is that we can't just all get on with it with a level of acceptance that... it is what it is ...instead of the hassle and resentment 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I think its important that people meet every now and again and share a beer and burn something on an open fire and talk sh*t until 2 in the morning and generally behave like ed up teenagers...Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I think you have a good point there The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeksnearly 4 weeksover 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."
I'm one of those newbies and I do think there is great community spirit on this forum....it's obvious just by the fact that there are so many meets. And when you do meet people they're all as friendly as on here
I appreciate where you guys are coming from in terms of the good old days, I feel that way about just about everything (showing my age)........we used to call Zimbabwean's 'when-we's' because of the same thing.
I wouldn't ever intentionally offend someone I didn't know and don't see why it should be different over the t'internet or on a forum.
I'm on here often enough to make SWMBO that upset that she doesn't talk to me, but I have had unbelievably great help, advice etc from everyone and I personally think it is a fantastic forum (far better than another forum I'm a member of).
I too wish I'd seen someone with a Dicso3 sticker and looked at the forum years ago when we bought our D3 as the great advice on this forum has definitely saved us money, off-set by the mods etc
I do try to ignore some of the remarks made against others (not all if there's a common theme) and make my own mind up based on personal experience or judgement and I'm sure most of us do the same One Wife.......Livid

Knew I shouldn't of opened that vino, fell asleep & missed all this!!
Oi DG, less of the old timers!! Reminds me I'll be getting my pension in 18 years.
Agree with a lot of the above, on "both" sides. A lot of the "community" has gone as peeps have come and gone but I accept that any forum can't be all things to all people all the time. It's nice to see members from long ago pop back on the radar and good to see when new peeps enjoy the forum. OK lots of posts from members go down routes that if I could be bothered would annoy me buy I generally ignore them, if they conntinue they just go on my CBA list. A lot of the squabbling goes straight over my head (it would help if I didn't skim read) but sometimes they liven things up on what would have been a boring Friday evening!
OK, if it looks like I'm sitting on the fence, absolutely coz it's more comfy than in the mud.

'kin 'ell Derek...that's a bit deep isn't it...The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

If you want to blame me for all of the site ill's ...I'm more than happy to take it for the team. 8) Afterall, what more of an honour can there be aside from being the site c t !
....although I have to say that this prestiguos title has recently passed to Mr. Tres 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
I'm just of the opinion we might as well blame someone The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
