Just got the new machine (TDV6 S 1st Sep 06), have got a mettallic clunk form the rear offside area when travvleing over bumps, low or high speeed. Can't find anything loose, anyone got any ideas - suspension? How to put it right?
Will be taking back to dealer to check but until then any comments would be welcome.
Oherwise car is magic!

are the middle and rear seats latched correctly?
Wheel nuts tight?
Tailgate rattle?
Are the dynamic weights under the rear bumper correctly fitted on their rubber mounts?
Hope it helps

Not forgetting of course the famous rear slung spare wheel
Make sure the cable is nice and tight. Dealer may have checked spares pressure before delivery it can happen, but not have secured it all the way.

Looks like a sloppy PDI by the dealer... PDI Manual states:
28. Check for any unusual noises from the power
train, suspension or braking systems.
29. Check for any squeaks or rattles from the
vehicle interior.

I had a strange noise from the right rear of my LR3 when it was new and I finally tracked it down to a part for which I don't know the name. There are spring-loaded dampers of sorts that mate with the upper tailgate. The noise I heard was coming from friction between the two plastic pieces -- a very small amount of lithium grease on the mating surfaces proved to be the cure.

It look like I have found the problem! The dynamic weights on both sides swing freely - the one on the offside bangs against a chassis bolt end and makes a mettallic clunk - now who can help, are they supposed to swing so freely and waht do I need to do to put it right?

Hmmm... they should swing reasonably freely and be fitted with compressable rubber 'dampers', under normal driving they shouldn't come into contact with anything (but occasionally do offroad) is the bolt on the O/S longer than the one on the N/S? if so, the wrong bolt (too long) could have been fitted at build. If this is the case, as with most other things, it's back to the dealer - and give them a ragging over the quality of their PDI

Okay, I can see that the weights are damped and the travek to hit the chassis bolt is several inches but I am sure that this is the problem, going to try wrapping some material around the bolt end to seee if this cures the problem - will then go and duff up Stratstone at Cardiff!!
Thanks for your help

Might be easier to put a blob of blu-tack on the suspect bolt and drive it round, then see if there are any witness marks in the blu-tack
