Does this apply to desk tops too? It has been a nightmare for IT stuff, I have a Dell desk top that is getting slower and slower (but probably isn't as bad as I think). I have a Lexmark all in one that I use for the colour printing and scanning - biggest heap of going an HP laser printer mono that is great and an ancient advent lap top that my lad uses but is slowly dying on him. I'm thinking of replacing the printers with a HP AIO colour laser printer (looks expensive but reliable). Ditching the laptop and clear everything off the PC and give that to my son, then buying a new desk top from Novatech. Am I right in thinking IT is now written off over 1 year on accounts? Any comments on this from you IT literate chaps??? DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

if you have the install discs, replace the hard drive and reinstall the software - works wonders complete b@ll-ache to do but worth it, also spend a bit of time with a hoover / compressor getting all the dust and crap out
Desktops are just as vulnerable as laptops. Generally, non-HDD related slowdowns are due to cheap-end components being used, these are usually second line stuff thats been derated from its original spec

I agree with TFC ....a good blow out every now and then is essential for maintaining the speed of your system...quite often there are hundreds of broken associations with the registry, dlls etc that just clog the thing up.....just remember to copy any important documents and make sure you note serial numbers etc of any software you might have purchased seperately before you attempt anything heavy 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yeah a mate of mine has a HP Pavillion & it looks like a V. Good machine indeed. Never had any experience with a Sony PC. As far as AV gear is concerned I wouldn't buy anything else.
Problem is that Sony don't make the chip, or the HDD.
The "nerds" tell me to go with AMD chips instead of Intel & my mate's HP has the Turion 64 chip, so I think I might go that road.
Can't be any worse than Dell that's for sure.
The only area where Dell do win out however, is that you can order it up configured exactly as you want it. Whereas with other PC's such as HP, Sony & the like, you typically have to take it as it is on the shop shelf, loaded with all the rubbish you don't want.

That offering from HMC&E (loop-hole) was closed on 31 March last year. Capitalise and 25% write-down is now the norm as with the rest of office equipment

Epson are doing good trade in deals on some of their AIO units. IMHO much better quality output for your D3 off road photo's than the HP's.
They'll do good office work also.
£40 or £50 off on the current offer.
http://www.epson.co.uk/tradeandsave/
Cost of the cartridges has dropped now to £6.99 which is cheaper than HP, Canon etc. as for Lexmark... well I think the comment has already been made.....
For fairness, I have to declare to you that I do work for Epson, but it also means I get to compare lots of manufacturers products. This isn't a commercial plug from me, just my opinion on the AIO printers. Bodsys Brake Bible

CX-11NF comes with free fax option if you buy an extra black toner.

I have one in my office if you want to PM any questions.
