| Having a hard time talking to voice recognition |

Is it just me or is the voice recognition system very anal. I've been assured that I dont really have an accent, I speak reasonably slowly and softly, but not quiet and certainly not booming, so why does the voice recognition system have such a hard time understanding me?
I've found when speaking, if I pause, then state what command I wish to say generally it doesn't get it. However if I continue normal speach somehow it works, but each time I have to NOT make an effort!! it's so unnatural to talk to it is this fashion. Does anyone else have this problem, and can it be tweaked, or better still auto-learn, the people who speak to it most?
How's it fairing with other's dialects

Mine keeps trying to send me to a restaurant then a winery 8) Perhaps they work on subliminal messaging

I have had the same problem from the day i got the car, personally I have given up on it and now dont bother, friends use to ask for a demo but after several embarising demos I now dont use it.
I find it works ok if the car is stationary but can not recogise me on the move..how much use is that ?....problem seems to be to much abient noise.. Well done LR another great unusable system...ohh do i sound bitter ?

Have a look in the navigation system to see what voice type is set. I found that it doesnt work unless the setting is english male

I find very good. It works 90% for me. maybe its a northern thing, maybe it likes my strong mancunian accent! Although I would have expected it to prefer a brummie !!

Likewise, it is very accurate for me & I have a slight Scottish accent, I did however alter the settings to UK Male (I think) & having used voicetyping systems for years I am used to speaking to computers!!! - trick is to keep a level voice, don't emphasise any words & just speak at a normal speed with slight but not emphasised gaps between words

Bloody hell this car has made me smileat last, Thanks to the board my voice control now works spot on I changed the voice language from american to uk female as they was no option for uk male and it now works 100%

I fixed mine by putting the microphone in the correct way round.... I am right hand drive and the mic was fitted for LH drive. Rip out the front coutresy light panel and check the location of the mic in either of the small grills. Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

If I hear mine say "sorry" one more time, Im tellin ya  . I have a 50/50 hit rate, I have the English chappy on mine, might change it to the lassie. My sat nav is the female ( who my partner thinks Im having an affair with  . Ive kind of given up using the voice activation as I look like a tool when Im showing off and instead of Cd Disc 1, track 5< I get the radio on AM  . Will take onboard some of the advice here and see how I go,

I've found it works all 99% of the time when driving around town, but when on the highway or off road it doesn't understand, because it can't handle any background noise. Have a nice day!
