I've got an HSE and there was no space under mine. There was already something there. That's why I had it mounted on the top of the panel over the drivers footwell..plenty of room there. Have a nice day!

I also have a GME TX3400.
a) The remote head is mounted to the front of the centre console just above the TR dial with double sided tape.
b) The main unit is mounted in it's cradle which is mounted on an 'L' shaped bracket bolted to one of the studs in the firewall between the steering wheel and the pedals. I assume the stud is there for a clutch pedal. This has the unit mounted solidly and just above the panel above the pedals (not the flip down one with the AC vent in it, but the horizontal one directly above the pedals).
c) Power is sourced from under the bonnet (currently main battery but only because I haven't gotten around to mounting the auxilary battery).
d) Like Jamo I have the ARB bar which has a specific hole to mount the antenna. Both power and antenna cables pass through the firewall at the 'clutch' grommet which is blind for those with an auto D3 (06) SE TDV6, Rear Locker, Rear Air, ARB bar w/winch, Safari Snorkel, 110l aux fuel tank, Kaymar rear bar (twin wheel carrier), Black Widow rear storage system, Rhino rack, GME UHF, Codan HF, IPF HID lights, CSA Explorer 17" w/BFG Mud Terrain KM2 - see Australian 4WD Monthly #103

I'm about to mount a CB radio also. I have a Cobra WX75, with a little box that mounts under the passenger seat and takes power from the aux circuit in the center console.
I am having a rear antenna bracket fab'd that mounts just below the rear light and holds a 48" antenna nicely. I have a few photos, but the install is not done yet. Will post a howto thread in the next few weeks, time depending.

Just fitted three mobile rigs into the D3
Two Motorola GM360s (VHF & UHF) and an Icom IC-7000.
All three radios have the remote heads and, best of all, the IC-7000 head fits perfectly above the fridge in the cubby box. I can close the cubby box onto it and nothing hits anything(!) - even the cables don't get snagged The two Motorola heads are up on the dash in front of the windscreen.
Best bit is there are no holes in the body either. The Motorolas have on-glass antennas associated to them, and the Icom has a 7db Gain Vertical mounted at the rear of the roof rail on a standard gutter mount. The coax feeds perfectly down the left hand side of the boot and comes in under the bottom door 'flap'. The top door doesn't touch the coax at all as there is quite a lot of space at the back there.

Why would you want my job???
Long hours and a salary that would make a McDonalds employee run back to the grill.
Mind you, there are healthy dividends 8)
