Right, the word is the head gasket is very good. Very, very good. This might be why they are changing the engine as a warranty item, so they can examine why it failed.
The only reason for head gasket failure 'normally' is due to losing coolant i.e. a broken hose.
Andrew, your engine will be coming here soon. If you want an eye kept on it, I'll need your VIN number..... I'll try to get some pix.Disco 5 HSE Lux

So both heads have been damaged due to what is presumed as an O ring failure in the headgaskes. This is only speculation on the fitters part so don’t go quoting me. It was going to cost £2500 per head to get them built up and skimmed, so Land Rover decided to change the engine. I should get her back tomorrow.
BTW If I had to chose between a New FFRR or a 54 TDV6 D3 The Disco wins.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Yep. Don’t get me wrong the FFRR is a great car, well it is on the inside. When I drive it I feel like I should put on another 5 stone and start smoking cigars.
Put it this way. If you had never seen a FFRR before and you were blindfolded, taken to the car for a test drive, put in the drivers seat, blindfold off, and you drive away. You would think wow what a car. Then when you finish the test drive you get out of the car and look back at it, you would feel very disappointed. But hey that’s just my opinion. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Not the best pic but here you see 2 Off Side bumper/winch mounts. This would be really useful if I owned 2 D3’3 that didn’t have Near Sides. However My D3 has both an Off Side and Near Side. SO I CANT FIT MY WINCH as some dumb as* in the parts department got it wrong. My car has been in the dealers for 3 weeks and now its in my work shop in bits. The shi* will be hitting the fan on Monday morning.
