Wiring the auxiliary socket.

I want to fit this plate, but Iam more interested in the auxiliary socket.
So the auxiliary is fitted, and you fit the cable to it, how do you link it to the stereo, are there any wires there? or do you have to run, it all the way back, if so where do yoy connect it to on the stereo?
Iam new to all this as I have only had the car for 2 days now.
And Iam loving it.

Hi Cliveaff,

AFAIK You need to have the premium ICE to get the aux. socket. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me soon Very Happy

This is a motor industry thing - they reduce cost by fitting standard wiring looms to most cars. The only change to this is where very non standard cars are ordered, and I don't think LR do these (except thro' Special Vehicles). This means lots of supposedly factory fir "enhancements" can be retro fitted - sometimes even DIY.

I fitted cruise control easily to my DII, and I know that heated seats and heated windscreen can be easily fitted to those cars. The upshot of this is that until someone has a real ggod look at D3, we won't really know what can be done. It's really just cost in most cases, and having a friendly dealer who'll stick your car on the computer and activate or recognise your "enhancement" if necessary Wink
If you wait for it to go wrong - it's bound to oblige

The aux socket is fitted to the plate but there is no cable from the stereo to this plate. It wouldn't be impossible to feed a cable from the rear of the stereo under the centre console to the socket though - does anyone know if that is how land rover do it on the HI-ICe stereos and if so what the part no is?

I don't think I have the Hi ICE stereo unit, I have the basic radio.
This unit has an AUX button though, so the wires, must connect to that.
Also how do you take the sterio unit out?

There are two connectors that carry the aux. input, C2053 which is beneath the cetre console, underneath the TR dial and C0223 which is behind the LH footwell trim panel
C2053 uses pins 13, 14 & 15 for left, right and ground respectively
C0223 uses pins 10, 11 & 12 for right, ground and left respectively
If C2053 is wired, there's a good chance this is wired all the way to the IHU, if not, C0223 is the best place to feed a cable to, this should be wired to the aux. input as this is where the rear seat DVD input connects...

The IHU is easy to remove, just pull the surround off from the bottom by the cupholders, this will expose the torx fixings for the IHU - but BE CAREFUL!! there's lots behind it, including the airbag wiring Shocked
The low line doesn't have fibre-optic MOST bus connections but there's lots of CAN bus wiring behind there...

Dazadd - yes she was my baby. Sadly departed now. Sad
Wanted to get a male next time, but the wife insisted that we get something less "territorial" so we ended up with a Scottish Deerhound... just as tall, not as intelligent, beautiful or elegant as Roya was. Crying or Very sad
sorry everyone for going off topic. One of the reasons for getting the D3 was to get the ridgie in.

Nice pics of your Ridgeback Wink hope your Deerhound gives you as much enjoyment as the Ridgie did.... we're on our third Ridgeback (plus the hunting pair my Grandfather had), the males are definitely less territorial - don't think the postie is convinced though Rolling Eyes

But seriously the D3 is excellent for dogs, we did the 'dane' test on every vehicle before we would even concider it.
