Re: Not happy with your horn?

Found this on an American site. Not quite the dixie-playing horn from the Fairmile meet, but surely better than the feeble LR offering?

Replace or supplement your LR3's existing factory horns with the very loud Hella Twin Supertone Horn kit. The kit contains two compact diaphragm-type horns that vibrate when triggered to produce brash sound that is 113 dB loud. One horn produces a 300 Hz low tone, while the other produces a 375 Hz high tone. The horns are compact for easy mounting in confined spaces and feature a red protective grill. The horns come with brackets for mounting. Relay and installation instructions are included with the kit.
Must admit the standard LR horns are a bit polite I remember a previous Japanese car that one small polite horn and it did nothing when needed I replaced the higher tone LR one with a FIAMM one so that I now have a dissonant tone to say what I need I had a high tone set of FIAMM air horns such as found on FIATS and LANCIAS but forgot to remove them when I traded in the D1 Can't find such a set anymore, only low tone air horns 2013 D4, E-diff, Vision pack

Looking at the GTR web site it seems all ready to go just needs to be told what to use horns or the alarm siren.

when fitted mine i used one of the original horns supply as a relay switch wire and wired an extra relay into the permanent fused live I ran for the driving lights on a bar
thus giving the new horn its own relay operated power supply
just in case it overtaxed any feeble LR wiring an the dealer threw the toys out of the pramNine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.

BLACK BETTY,
Thanks, I looked at the manufacturer website, the Nautilus horn draws 18A, thus I recon the relay is a must. LR horn draws 3A each as per GTR and the horn fuse is 15A.
Where did you phisically put the new horn?
