Both of mine work at the same time. Indeed annoying. Tend to turn them off when driving normally. Agree rear sensors should only work when reverse is selected.

Hmmm. Can't find any reference to this on the GTR about the rear PDC. Found this about the front -

Quote:
A customer may report a concern that the front parking aid system sounds unnecessarily.

Cause: The current system strategy means that the front parking sensors will operate when a forward gear is selected following reverse. Sensor operation is canceled when the vehicle speed is above 10mph (16kph) but will operate again if the speed drops below 10mph (16kph). This can give instances of sensor warnings when the vehicle stops at a junction and another vehicle or pedestrian passes in front of the vehicle, resulting in the above complaint. This is not a fault with the parking system, however, an alternative system strategy is available so that the system operation is canceled when the vehicle speed is above 10mph (16kph) and will not operate again until the vehicle speed is below 10mph (16kph) and the fascia front parking aid switch is selected (or until a forward gear is selected following reverse gear selection during parking).

But then I found this, which indicates that rear PDC shouldn't be on constantly -

Quote:
A customer may report a concern that the parking aid system does not operate every time when reversing.

This bulletin has been re-issued to update the parts information with a superseded part number. The new control module also affects the operation of the front parking aid system (where installed). The customer must be informed of the operation change to the front parking aid system (where installed). For additional information, refer to Global Technical Reference (GTR) Technical Service Bulletin LA413-003/2006.

Cause: The parking aid system needs to receive both 'vehicle stationary' and 'electronic parking brake' (EPB) signals together to activate the system. The system has now been changed so that the 'vehicle stationary' signal is ignored and EPB 'drive away' signal can activate the system.
Action: On a customer complaint basis only, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to renew the parking aid control module.

This is off of the "rest of World" section, though, so dosen't cover the States. Rolling Eyes I would expect US vehicles to be the same though.
