Front Parking Sensor's

Hello I have just ordered D3 S but unfortunately LR don't have any stock around with front parking sensor's. I have been advised by the dealer that i can fit after-market ones.

Does anyone have any hits, tips or experience on getting these fitted.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve

I wouldn't worry too much about front PDC. Rear is useful, front is a PITA IMHO.

My SE only has rear PDC, but I had a RRS HSE for a couple of days and couldn't wait to be without front PDC afterwards. Reason; every bush, fern and vehicle in front caused a bl**dy bleep. I can see in front of me, I don't need to be told what I can see. At least the rear PDC has a use Evil or Very Mad

If you can get the car you want without the front PDC then don't wait a second. Life is too precious to be without a D3 for even a day just for the sake of something you only think you need........ Wink

I'll 2nd that one JMC !! I had a RRS HSE for the day on Monday.

Front PDC drove me mad. Every time I drove onto my drive and reversed off the car was going crazy and I was miles away from the wife's car and the gate posts.

Steve, best not have it fitted I say. The D3 is a box and unbelievably easy to park and thread through tight spaces.

Saying that though will mean that Steve will drive into the 1st thing in front of him he sees as he leaves the dealership with his freshly installed permagrin ! Sods Law.

mmm now that will be harder than ny questions you'll have on the D3.

Good luck.

If its any help, my wife finds the D3 easier to park than the Freelander, the Audi I had previously and prefers to drive the D3 when going into town.

But that may be die to the size of the boot when she's shopping Evil or Very Mad

steve,

If you really want the Front parking sensors they can be retro fitted as long as you got the rear ones to start with.

I looked into this for my D3 S, My local dealer wanted about £200 for the parts and £350 for fitting.

the front bumper has marks on the rear of it to show where they go they just need cutting out once they are fitted your dealer would have to switch them on.

I've decided not to fit them to mine as i'm hopeing to fit a winch at some point and two middle sensors wouldn't be much use.

Hope this helps

I actually find them useful when reversing around corners, as they alert you to the edge of the front bumpers getting too close to an object. Not sure I'd bother if buying & fitting was £500+ though.

it's an easy job to fit them yourself as long as you're competent & confident with a drill Shocked

I wish my LR3 didn't have the front parking sensors...they're damned annoying, in my opinion. And it would be nice if the rear ones were only active while in reverse. Neutral

Rear ones should only be active when you're in reverse.

I have front and rear PDC and both can be active regardless of direction. Quite dis-concerting when you hear it going off at junctions/traffic lights when someone walks between the cars or pulls up too close. Of course just means I have to turn the PDC off via the button in the cab.

Not got front PDC, but my rear only switches on when I select reverse. As it goes into reverse gear the car 'pings' at you to let you know rear PDC is selected.

This is my fourth car with rear PDC and they've all been the same - only works whilst in reverse.

Anybody else's on all the time? Confused

I think if you complain about them going off incorrectly there is a LR buletin on it and they swap part of the pdc system to stop this happening.?

My rear PDC only activates after I select reverse too. Only the front PDC comes on automatically on mine.

That is exactly my complaint as well.
