07A00001 on it superseeds 3 times to finally end up at LR013487

LR002465-LR007131-LR007798-LR013487

The latest one is substantially beefed up to stop the failure.
Most dealers will deny knowledge of it tbh. Part is about £70 fitting is an extra three hours according to LR.

If you speak to LR customer service, they may well pay for it, many on here have had success with that.

Most dealers will deny knowledge of it, as they don't know it is an issue (up this way, anyway)

Pump has just gone up in price too. Current retail price is £81.47 + VAT IIRC

There have been a few members who have had LRCC pay for replacement, but when challenged, LRCC say no one has ever had their pump replaced FOC

When I spoke to LRCS I got a bs politicians answer on the matter.

I was looking to see if they admitted that they had a problem and were replacing them.

All I got was "If you have a problem, take your D3 to your local dealer"

Useless!

Gary, the cambelt tensioner is in behind the cambelt cover. They would have no need to remove said cover to do an alternator.

The aux belt tensioner, on the other hand, is also fairly common for falling apart.
But, this is a pulley on a bearing, with a spring loaded arm, which would be a wear and tear part

I a'm the next victim off the broken timing belt tensioner.
my car has driven 109k, and i had change the belt and the tensioner it at 95k, it was 7 years old, so i thought it was time to do it.
is there some body who has won a lawsuit against LANDROVER over this item.

I would like to hear about it specially if it is a Dutch case [/img]

Sorry to hear this.

When you say you had the "housing" replaced, what you mean? Do you mean you had the oil pump replaced as well? And it's failed already? If the oil pump casing (what the tensioner bolts into) has failed within 12k miles then I would definitely be looking for 100% contribution towards a new engine from LR. It's possible the oil pump was replaced by one of the Censored ones?

You need to talk to "Pete@LandRover" on here. One of these days, LR might actually acknowledge they have a problem rather constantly trying to sweep it under the carpet... Whistle

08's did have issues with broken conrods and snapped crankshafts

We need more info.

Was it the oil pump that failed?
New belt broken?
Idler/Tensioner failed?
Dare I say it, poor workmanship?

First things first though, the front end needs stripped to find the actual failure

Not sure as yet will keep you all posted. Wife was driving down motorway this morning when loss of power she pulled over and oil and battery light was on. Up to now the recovery said the belt had snapped and knocked water hoses off. Rang garage they confirmed belt had snapped but couldnt tell me anymore until further investigation. Had all belts replaced inc pulleys tensioner oil case housing all from the large one on this site. Hope its not completely screwed any advice from you all would be of help as dont know what to do from here. Thanks steven

If its taken out the hoses are you talking about the aux belt and not the front cam belt as the cam belt would need to smash through the cam belt cover to take the hoses out?.

Flack Thumbs Up

As above

It is highly unlikely the cam belt would have snapped, burst through the belt cover and taken damaged a water hose.

That would bring the battery light on. Had she carried on down the motorway, it may have started to overheat due to no water pump, which put the car into Limp Mode, and shut the engine down to protect itself

Fingers crossed Thumbs Up
