The first part and second part vin range have definitely had this issue. Not aware of any yet on the third part, but then they are probably not yet due for change.....

This is not a LR recall or service bulletin, just awareness for all....

Coming up for my belt change service! I have a 2005 diesel, discovery 3, how much extra work to change out the oil pump,
I understand a new replacement oil pump would be the same design and type as I already have, but the new one won't have done 87k miles!
Can anyone give me an idea for cost of replacement for oil and water pumps whilst I have the new belts fitted Question
I like the idea of a belt and braces approach, excuse my pun Rolling Eyes

Its not a job for the faint hearted as its a full days job to change the oil pump casing and the front belt and pulleys, the water pump is a 10 min job if done at the same time as the front belt.

Not sure what you mean but the extra time to change the pump casing is a good 3 hours on top of the belt change if you know what your doing.

Anyone got a price list for the specialist tools required for an oil pump and cambelt change?
I know you need;

2 camshaft locking bolts
1 crankshaft locking bolt
Crankshaft nut locking tool
Viscous fan removal tool

So just need added anything I have missed out and a rough idea of price please Question Question

You can buy the kits off ebay for the camshafts which also have the crankshaft locking tool as well, somebody on here was selling one a couple of weeks ago.
You also need a big breaker bar and torque loader for the front crankshaft bolt which is fooking tight...
Viscous fan tools can also be got from ebay.

Thanks Flack, where would I find a crankshaft bolt torque loader Question
I understand the reason for it but cant work out how you would use it practically Question
If I can't buy one any idea on the specifications so I could get one made up?
Do I even need one if I lock the crank using the tool after starter motor removal Question

sorry but I still have a doubt, my car is a model 05 - VIN 5AXXXXXX, it is better to change the pump with the last piece (LR013487 if it is compatible!?) or is compatible only piece 1348651? Thanks for the support
