Just posted this on another thread that seems to have just got deleted so posting again as hopefully this is the best thread on this subject.
I read/photographed the part number from my oil pump today (still on the car), it says AE but the "E" is punched in (and bigger) rather than raised cast like the rest of the numbers. Were casings ever produced like this? every image i've seen so far - all the numbers/letters are raised.
Should i worry?

Just in case anyone else notices this rather strange part number stamping on their casing - on my car (and of course i can only say for my car), it was the new design with the gaps bridged between the pump mounting holes and the tensioner mount (a visual inspection confirmed this once i managed to get the fan off and got access to the plastic belt cover) . As far as i can tell, my oil pump is original from the factory. I've an 8a VIN number.

I have no idea whether they will actually fit my Jag yet, but I think that they are a good bit cheaper than from Jaguar.
They were out of stock of the oil seals but the Jag dealer has those for £10.

That looks as though the crank has seized initially, causing the tensioner mount to be broken off My D3 Build Thread

Have you looked at the date code cast into the body of the oil pump? to the right of the crank pulley in your pic.

I had no idea about this issue! Feel so sad for all those who have had what sounds like very serious issues.
I just bought a 2007 model and am terrified to drive it now. I have a 7A VIN. Belts were changed in 2013 at 105K but the oil pump was not upgraded. The car has now done 122K so perhaps all is well but having read a large proportion of topic posts I will have the belts changed again and a new oil pump installed.

Oil pump now replaced (I didn't dare drive the car from the moment I learnt of the issue). When inspected my 2007 LR3 did indeed have the problematic oil pump so I feel very fortunate that this resource exists otherwise I'd have been driving blind! Big thumbs up to Broadfields Garage in Dunmow who did the work. They clearly know lots about Land Rovers and are very happy to offer helpful advice.
