And the Pains get worse.
Firstly thanks again to all that have helped me so far , and Sorry to hijack the thread.
After the tensioner bolt housing broke , we have now repalced the oil pump housing with the new P/N ( looks much stronger ) ,new belt and tensioner fitted , we checked the timing 3 times. started the vehicle and it " lives " . but was not idling correctly .
Before this whole story started , we were told that 2 of the injectors are not supplying enough fuel for interest. ( the 2 back ones.) L/H rear one was the worst. so new Injector bought and it has been replaced.
Started car. it idles better , and accelerates much better than before and it sounds normal , but there is lots ( more than before ) of smoke. when in P or N , the idling is great , D or R the engine hunts a fair bit and there is lots of vibration. when driving it is OK , except before the turbo spools up , ( it was like that before however ) told it's torque convertor . thats for later on for now due to $$$$.
So does anyone have idea's ? I am sure that the timing is correct , but we can all make mistakes. I wasnt the only one doing it and followed the book step by step. I was told 1 tooth can make a big difference and the smoke can indicate incorrect timing .
Any help would be greatly appreciated .
Cheers

if it was running when the tensioner mount broke, then there coiuld be untold damage withoiut taking the heads of properly and having a look. slightly bent valves or chipped valves or broken rockers can all have an effect.Bodsys Brake Bible

Not had in injector out of a TDV6 before so not sure if its possible but I would be looking at Injectors out and use a borascope to check for any marks or damage to the crowns of the pistons. Then you will have an idea if there is likely to be any damage to the valves/rockers. If there is nothing visible I would go back and check your timing if your not 100% sure it's right.
Good luck with it!

Hello all. I have 57 plate we have owned since new that has just suffered the same problem. I have been offered some assistance fom land rover but because the car is high mileage they are not being as helpful as I would have hoped. Could someone please pm me and let me know what is a reasonable offer.
Many thanks

Anything is better than nothing, however a recon engine is £5400 + VAT + fitting.
You could go down the 2nd hand route, but there are very few engines out there just now. I know, because I need one...
You could possibly go down the route of new heads, providing there is no damage to the bottom endMy D3 Build Thread

You need to PM Bodsy, who may be able to offer you some advice. Also 'Liam at Land Rover' is another useful contact on here. What's your mileage?

Good luck with LR - lot's of 2007 'ers with broken cambelt issues, many got absolutely b*gger all from LR and many were on less miles with full LRSH as well

Well, its only one service beyond the 105k, so if it has full 1 owner dealer history then I would be tempted to push LR harder.
After reading all 19 pages...well I don't feel too good.
I have an 08 Sport that I keep in Spain will be 5 years old in June, it has only covered 55 000 kilometres circa 34 000 miles with FLRSH and I had the cam belt changed when the car was 4 years old.
My car is mint and yes I love it, however I am now thinking should I part company with it as Land Rovers extended warranty runs out when its 5 years old, and unfortunately there is no such thing as Land Rover Select warranty for older vehicles in Spain. In fact I don't know of any after market warranties in Spain.
So do I part company with my Sport, or maybe I should get a quote from the local Land Rover stealer for fitting the latest 3litre oil pump.In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar

You love the car, know it well and it sounds to be in a very good condition and low mileage, personally I'd pay out for the oil pump, what would it cost to replace with something newer, I'd say a LOT more Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Well, the car is in the main dealer having the latest type of oil pump fitted, thinking a new pump is cheaper than a new engine, I will post the cost as soon as I get the car back In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar
