checked first Discovery 4 |
|
Today went checking the first Discovery 4 that arrived at the dealer here in Malta. It is Izmir Blue XS with a few extras.
At first my Boss (wife) did not like the color but after 15 min the sun came out and it seems like it changed to a better color. The most two things that we wanted in the disco were not there, a sun roof and most important a reversing camera. I asked him if I can order one with these two options and he told me no problem I just have to wait 4 months.
He told me he will check if the camera can be fitted and get back to me. The price for the Disco…90000 Euro .
Will go again next Friday to see if he can give me an answer about the camera and then we will see.

Just got the bad news…the reverse camera cannot be retro fitted . Tomorrow going for a test drive. If all goes well I will have a disco 4 parked in my garage very soon.

I think you'll find the reversing camera CAN be retro fitted, but just not by LandRover!
Have a search on here & you'll see some options. Bodsys Brake Bible
D4/D3 Remote FBH heat kits
BAS Remaps/ EGR Blank
Transmission Flush
Software updates/enabling
Clock/ SNOTM /3Flash / 4x4Info /BT Update /Service Reset/Error Codes / Gearbox Reset

geoff that is 78000 sterling. That is how much we pay on this small island. If you come to live in Malta and bring you car here take a look at this site before you that...

JeeeeZus!
So you have to pay a registration tax that equates to about the value of the vehicle.
Paying for your car twice in effect?

Just checked for a 2010 HSE youd have to pay 37793 euros as a registration tax!
For a used Car! Must stop buying shiny toys....

I have been a member of Disco3 since 2005. So after 5 years I will make the move to get my Disco4. After seeing the prices, now you know why it took me so long. The car cost the same as my house.
If you want to see the prices for used disco go here;

Today was the big day…testing the D4. It did not go well, we only did 1 km and the sales men noticed something wrong. There was no acceleration and when it changed from first gear to second there was like 2 second gap before it accelerated. We turned back he phone the technicians to do the PDI again, and this time they test on the road not in the garage.
I also noticed the suspension was very hard, like driving in my old series 3 landy. Is this normal?
It is not a good start; my main worry is that since this is the only D4 on the island the agent will take more than normal to fix the faults that my come with ownership.

Only if the suspension is set at the lowest level and locked.

More likely the dealers havent prepped the car correctly and dont know the settings. Which in itself doesnt give much confidence for later servicing.

I know but at least there is this site which I thing is better than having a mechanic … if it wasn’t for this site I would never consider buying a Disco 4

Went for second test drives today…wow what deference from the first test drive. The suspension and the acceleration are incredible. Managed to go down with price.
