Switch failed
Mine failed with 2 weeks of warranty left! Had to pass Duckworths at Market Rasen , and fortunately they swapped it whilst I waited, so was in and out in 30 mins Must stop buying shiny toys....

Al,
When you say "actuator failure", does this also include the cable snapping? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

i dont think its the cable that acutally snaps is it ?
I think it is more the little metal 90degree bend on the end of the cable that snaps. At least is was on mne.Duncan

Sorry Dunc you're right - that's what broke on mine
The newer version on the replacemente I bought looks much stronger.
So is this classed as an actuator failure? Just want to know so that I can vote for the correct option 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

90,000 miles and a very heavy user of the tailgate as all my work kit is repeatedly loaded/unloaded many times a day, (and often by other people who don't appreciate the disco). No problems as yet (touch wood) although, I've worried about it lots after reading of others woes on here! Thing is, I also have the full height dog guard and unbreakable glass for security so I don't know what I'd do if the cable does give up?

take it too bits before it breaks and attach another cable to the main cable. this can then be fed out through the trim into the boot area so if it does ever break you can just pull the second cable to open the boot.Duncan

yep, that's what normally goes
early ones were light alloy, the newer versions LR017470 has a steel elbow so should be much stronger
TBH to my knowledge, not had anyone who haqs had replaced then had fail again for the same part TLO has left the building.......

Mine have failed twice I'm presuming there are two (one for each side) both times with the dogs in the cage which is a tight fit in the back. Both springers were very traumatised by the cussing and swearing they were subjected to whilst in the workshop but assure me they know how to do the job when we are out of warranty Pot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011
