Gents
Had a call from LR and they confirm that parts are currently in production. It is a one way valve and will be installed in the pipe work associated with one of the turbos. Should have mine installed very very soon, wonder if it will cure the issue MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Isn't that what I just posted a few posts back?

Not clear at present. I think once the TSB is out that will answer the question.

Well I had the first part of the work completed on my car 10 days ago by Harwoods Croydon. I believe a new modified turbo was fitted (organised by LR Customer Service Centre), plus other works which their engineers had been working on developing - it has reduced the problem by at least 90 per cent. so far as I can tell to-date.
The car will still need some further updates, though I am led to believe these can hopfully be software-only downloads, although LR will confirm to me next week. They have been very keen to follow-up and see what effect the work they have carried out have had.
Nice to be driving a car doesnt look like it has a bonfire stuck up its ****. 747_JK

No timing on the TSB, and the update info was only released on Thursday.
@747_JK - replacement of a turbo is not the solution they are working on. I'd be wary to the possibility that they are merely trying to keep you sweet. Indeed, the engineering department has specifically ruled out any fault with the secondary turbo, and the SSM relating to replacement for this issue has been withdrawn.
To clarify, the first step of the fix is a software update to keep the bi-turbo mode active; there will be a secondary step to fit a non-return valve, but these are not ready to be fitted yet.

I could have got it totally wrong - I am not a techie and was Down Under when the work was done, so comms was run via a colleague - but I am sure they changed that part too. As I said, could be wrong. Either way, for now, it's doing great guns. And what they have done is all official LR advised work - not something the dealer just decided to try... 747_JK

Strange that this doesn't seem to be coming up in either of the 2 main XF forums yet they use the same engine and turbo config. Not sure if the mapping is different in the XF (other than for the S version which lets some more horses out) so you'd have to start looking at the DPF which I think is going to be different as it's part of the post exhaust manifold configuration (which obviously will differ from the XF). 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

No DPF on mine.
The 2nd turbo not getting used on long runs conforms to the conditions when mine has subsequently produced a smokescreen.

To confirm - have cheked this out and I defintitely had a new turbo fitted in the latest round of work. I also believe it was not the standard off-the-shelf replacement, as I was told by LR that this was a part they had arranged to be specifically manufactured to help the problem on my car given the problems I had had (the dealer also mentioned he thought the part was coming from France).
It is also not the complete repair as the dealer is waiting for the service kit to be released, although the new turbo they have fitted will remain on the car. They actually checked all latest bulletins from Land Rover yesterday morning and there was still no information yet regarding the permanent fix. The dealer Service Manager is being very proactive and has diarised to keep checking and get the car in as soon as it is available.
In the meantime at least the smoke issue has been significantly reduced. 747_JK

is this a "fix" for all D4s or just specific vehicles.
I just seems odd that Ive not had the problem. I would have thought if there is software and hardware modifications being worked on it would cover all vehicles.
how come a few vehicles get the problem but most other dont..
Hope you get it sorted - i find my self paying more attention to looking in the mirror now for the smoke than i do looking where i'm going Duncan
