Well you are very lucky gvw!
Besides, I have found a new love for my D4. It allows me to browse the web on my ipad whilst on the motorway doing 56mph. Unfortunately that's because as I type I am in the crew cab of one of The AA's finest 12 tonne Midlums, with my not so trusty D4 inches behind being recoverd 200 miles! Oh, if only Land Rover dealers in Staffordshire held bigger parts stocks!
At least it's not the engine this time...747_JK

Help!
My D4 was new in November 2012. Has covered 7K miles (but no journeys shorter than 20 miles) and have always used Shell V-Power fuel.
While entering M25 yesterday, put my foot down to accelerate (the same as I always do) and noticed for the first time the dreaded blue smoke-screen behind. After a few miles I accelerated again and the blue smoke reappeared.
Do I have a problem that I should raise with Land Rover now or should I leave it until the annual service in October? Do you think they will even be interested or try to tell me that it is "usual" for this engine?
Any advice would be welcome. I am not quite at the stage of looking at other manufacturers offerings (nothing else really appeals), but after many years of owning LR products I am getting tired of all the time I spend at the dealers! My son has a 2011 Fiat Panda that is fun to drive, just a bit small for daily use, but only sees the workshop for an annual service.moles

I think something must have been done to mine when it went in for a service as the problem has never returned and no matter what I do I cannot get it to smoke like before, and my, did it smoke!
LR will never admit that there is a problem but then I am sure that all the dealers are told to follow the party line
Beware about changing to another make, as bad as they are they are still head and shoulders above anything else out there. I tried a Q5 for a week and have to say it is not a patch on the Discovery, same goes for an X5, ML and Lexus, all tried and discarded
Do mention it to LR when goes in for a service and I am sure like mine it will be sorted

Moles, blue smoke issue is an easy fix. There is a TSB for a turbo drain pipe to be fitted.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Nov 2012 cars shouldn't need drain pipes fitted...! They have been using these engines long enough to know there is an issue and to correct it at production! #crazy
And they will admit there is a fault with the TDV6. Land Rover HQ has told me so directly, as early as May 2010.
Hope you get yours sorted.747_JK

Hi moles, did you have any other problems with your D4? Why did you lose faith so quickly? If there is a TSB out, why don't you try to fix it? I've been in your shoes before with my FL2, 4-5 years ago, the dealers gave me a really hard time till they finally got it fixed after months of endeavour, but then I had a car with no problems at all for 4 years and then a friend bought it from me and he's still enjoying it. Don't lose faith mate! Just find a good knowledgeable dealer!

They move the oil drain pipe access point in a higher position, from here:

Regular use of the second turbo, does remove the symptoms of needing the oil drain as in effect you are burning off the oil "little and often" meaning you don't notice the smoke. Try to stay off the big turbo (below 2200rpm or similar) for a few days and then "give her the shoe". If its the turbo oil drain creating your smoke, you will see a plume behind you.

Got the blue smoke today from an D4 3.0 MY12. A rainy day but I noticed that the spray behind the car became sort of dense and white/blueish.
It was under hard acceleration up a hill on the motorway after a roundabout so from aprox 20 kph to 100 kph the smoke appeared. When in cruising mode it disappeared. Tried again in the next Hill and there was smoke again. But less. After a while I couldn't get any more smoke.
Was of course terrified and stop at the next lay by and checked this forum. Comforted I kept calm and carried on. Will have the garage have a look at it later. But for now it should be OK... right?
The things is this vehicle was bought from a dealership but has been serviced at an independent garage wich wouldn't be aware of any bulletins or updates (will have it serviced properly later, only got it about 3 weeks ago).

Should be OK - mines has done that for some time, Oil level never seems to drop, so must be minute quantity (note - everything crossed here!)
I guess if it did it consistently post hard acceleration that would be a cause for further investigation
