The diagnostic kit looks good, but how do you connect it if you do not have a timer installed?

If you have the red wire out from the FBH, just connect onto that. The red wire is found on earlier models and is the Bus comms for between the FBH and the fan inside the car that LR never got to work. The wire is therefore not used.
If you don't have the red wire you could take out the little blue plug in pin 2 and stick something in....

Bought one of these, plugged it into the laptop, cleared the faults and the FBH has been fine ever since! Worth the money if you ask me!

Nice idea!! Bow down

But then again, do you need access to it so often? Any thoughts as to which wireless hub & switch?

Belkin Home Base F5L049ea would do but generally too expensive. dont need the function that often, just to play Rolling Eyes

Shame! Crying or Very sad

So it found the device, but couldn't install driver.... Was it the "PL-2303 Driver Installer" for XP?

or a noisy aircon compressor

I took my D4 out for a short drive this afternoon. It had been kept in the garage but the air temp was way up in double digits (even here in Barnsley). Thing is, when I pulled up at the paper shop and switched off the engine, there was a noticable hissing going on, which seems to be normal with my D4 - it stops within a minute or so of parking. When I got home and stood outside the car with the engine running, there was a noice that sounded like a small Dyson - that stopped immediately when I turned the aircon off.

I'm would guess that the car had just about got warm enough to need the aircon to cool the interior (didn't think to turn it up from my usual 19C setting at the time).

Is this normal behaviour ? Comments on the car or owner !!

Ah ha - I guess this has a viscous/electric fan that runs for a little while after switching the engine off Embarassed

Started mine this morning on the timer to give it a good purge and clearout, fired up fine Thumbs Up Strange thing though, it will not fire up on the instant heat button unless ambient temp below 4 degrees etc, the way the weather has changed, it wont be long though Very Happy

Mines fired up all by its self last night as i was moving the car out the garage.

Didn't half give me a fright Shocked as it smoked rather a lot. I am guessing because it had been quiet during what little summer we had this year.

Temp was 3c
